Stayed one night Aug. 2008, four of us had the Rockport and Northport rooms.
Location: on the well-used Route 3 from Augusta,1ml from US 1.
Welcome: very friendly and pleasant. Arrived at 21:40hrs, later than normal booking-in time, but had made an arrangement to do this, because we needed to eat before arrival from Boston. Given the good advice that there is nowhere to stop after Augusta. Owner was very helpful in pre-booking email and telephone contacts.
Tea (made with boiling water -UK residents take note) and biscuits/cookies on arrival.
Very clean, good facilities and space in rooms.
Breakfast is a communal affair, effectively in the kitchen, which makes it a homely (UK) / homey (US)* affair. 10 at table when house full, as on our visit. Warm, very light muffins served with various jams and maple syrup; dish of yoghourt and fruit; fresh blueberry pancakes with ham plus tea or coffee. Very good.
The Northport room is significantly smaller than the Rockport (hence price difference) but has the advantage of being at the back of the Inn away from the road, so is quieter. The Rockport (and Jonesport) Room is on the front, fairly near the road, so you may need to use earplugs (we always carry them for such situations).
You may find it fun trying to wend your way through the Inn's maze of rooms.
A good and pleasant place to stay for our overnight, mid-journey purposes but somewhat out of the way if you are looking for a view of the sea or 'downtown' activities.
*Note the difference between the UK and US meanings of ‘homely’ – cosy and comfortable vs ugly and unattractive!
