My wife and I had a getaway at the Belfast Bay Inn for Columbus Day weekend. I travel frequently around the world for business, and have stayed in countless hotels. Every once in a while, you encounter a hotel where everything is done just right. The Belfast Bay Inn is one of those rare gems that I will think of fondly the next time I am stuck in another shoebox business hotel room.
Ed and Judy spared no expense in outfitting the Inn, and spare no effort in insuring that the experience will be calm, relaxing and very sophisticated. Our room was stunning, both in the understated quality and elegance of the furnishings, and in the absolute peace and quiet.
There are many examples of this approach. The most dramatic is the Bose Wave radio in each room instead of the usual barely usable, tinny sounding ugly $5.00 clock radio one normally finds. For someone who is musically oriented, it is a wonderful contrast to walk into your room and be greeted by the rich sound of good music played well and the capability That set the tone for the entire visit.
Breakfast was just right. A freshly made quiche, delicious fruit salads and excellent coffee. The weather was so nice that we were able to enjoy our breakfasts on the secluded rear terrace.
Ed and Judy's years in the hospitality industry show in a level of sophisticated, understated service that one rarely sees nowadays. Even jaded travellers such as myself will find the Belfast Bay Inn a refreshing oasis. We can't wait to go back!!
