I have stayed in this hotel every year for the Lafayette rodeo for 5 years! Its old and run down, how ever the staff were always very nice. (when it was Comfort Inn) We just returned from Clarion and I am so glad that I dont have to spend another night in that place. Renovations signs are posted everywhere and nothing is redone. All doors were busted locks didnt work. Floors were filthy, ( my husband found a black welted banana and rotten orange on the window seal. Mold on walls and on some of the Pictures. Toilet hung up and ran constance. Bathrooms were filthy, tub looked like it had not been cleaned in years.
Always got voicemail when we called the front desk. Finally when they did answer they were rude! Four persons in a room for 4 days and all we received was 3 wash clothes. We had to bath with huge hand towels. ROACHES!!!! Thats all im gonna say about that!!
If it were not a business trip and paid for by my company, we would have left there within the first 10 mins. When it was the Comfort Inn we didnt have that many problems, atleast the staff was nice and catered to our needs. The new management and Clarion hotel is horriable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Theres an Econo Lodge hiding behind that Clarion sign!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

The Clarion, Lafayette has recently changed there flag from the Comfort Inn. The hotel advertises that it has been recently renovated but my room must have been left out. The quality of the hotel was dismal. After check in, I had to change rooms twice. In the first room, the refrigerator was broken. I was given another room and, as soon as I walked in, saw roaches on the wall. I finally settled on my third room.
The room had been recently painted and had a new bathroom vanity. Everything else was worn. The shower was a stained. The toilet was some sort of "spaced aged" 1980's contraption that worked poorly. It was very hard to find an outlet to plug in my laptop and cell phone into. A power outlet, behind the bed, looked dangerous and was uncovered. The room became very humid at night because i could never get the in-room dehumidifier to work properly. Besides, when I check into a hotel, I don't want to spend time figuring out how to keep the room less humid. One final point. My room looked NOTHING like the room pictured on the website. I had cheap bed linens, and second hand furniture.
Breakfast was a bust. The "free, hot continental breakfast" was located inside the hotel's restaurant. At first, I was excited to see a variety of hot items such as bacon and eggs. I was than approached by a member of the staff informing me that the hot breakfast buffet was $5.99 "plus tip". I told the staff that i was staying at the hotel and showed them my room key therefor was entitled to a free breakfast. The staff then pointed me to a folding table in the corner with cereal, thawed muffins and the like. I guess the "free, hot continental breakfast" advertised meant that you were allowed to microwave instant oatmeal.
Overall, I wont be staying here again. I have stayed at much better properties around the Lafayette area at a much cheaper price.

“Very nice hotel, pretty gounds, friendly staff & pet friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

We stayed in Choice Hotels during our move from the San Francisco Bay area to Cape Coral, FL because of their summer promotion and (mostly) pet friendly policy. Good hotel with pretty grounds, very nice roomy rooms (with dehumidifier) and friendly staff. Fridge, microwave, toiletries and breakfast all included. Very nice restful pet friendly hotel. We were concerned about the bus full of college age tourists unloading when we arrived but we never heard a peep.

“The wine & cheese was good !!!”

Fortunately we only had one night at this hotel. The location was not good, the outside of the premises looked tired and although we were told it had recently been completely refurbished, I think a better alternative would have been to gut the building and start again, better still don´t bother just pull it down.

Our room was on level 1 meaning we had to go down steps to get to it. From the patio windows which were dirty, had black mould round the sealing and didn´t open we could almost see the swimming pool which was above us. The room was dark and although clean it smelt of both cigarettes (this is supposedly a non-smoking hotel) and something unsavoury like cats pee.

We were given a warm welcome by the staff and served cheese and wine (both good) on arrival while they took our bags to the room, unfortunately while the welcome committee lasted 10 minutes it took the staff over an hour, despite a reminder phone call, to deliver our bags which was inconvenient as we were going out that evening and it left us all of 15 minutes to get ready. As it happened this too was not as imagined.

The promised to enjoy local Cajun cuisine and foot-stomping music in a popular restaurant (Mulates) where the natives dance the night away, turned out to be a prefabricated building on the side of a busy road, plastic table cloths, miserable staff, entertainment was provided by 3 old boys who should have retired 20 years ago but at least we had fun learning the Cajun two step. We were a party of 50 and the only ones there apart from 1 couple and the staff, don´t know what happened to the ´natives´ but the place closed at 9.30pm and we were all back on the coach and into the hotel for 10.00.

I would say Lafayette is probably the most boring place I have ever been in America and I have been visiting since 1978 of course this was not helped by the hotel or the ‘entertainment´

“Absolutely Do Not Recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

This "hotel" is nearly 4 miles off of the interstate in the middle of an unsavory neighborhood. The exterior of the rooms have arcadia doors that face the parking lot, which smells like cat urine. It is currently under renovation. The rooms are $84 per night and are barely 10x10. Every door in the room (hall, fridge, bathroom) squeeks very loudly and in the middle of the night, it is very annoying. The toilet handle had to be held down for about 30 seconds for it to even flush. The only so-called redeeming feature of the room was the granite tile and countertop in the bathroom.
