My wife and I stayed in the "Garden Inn and Extended Stay" in Shepherdsville on our way home from Florida. We've stayed in Shepherdsville several times, but the motel we usually stay in had no vacancy so we thought we'd give the Garden Inn a try. We read reviews stating that the Inn had been renovated and the price was reasonable. Here are the pros and cons.
Positives:
1. Friendly, helpful receptionist
2. Well lit parking lot
3. Large room with two double beds
4. Room included a frig, microwave, and coffee maker.
5. Room furniture in relatively good condition.
6. Sheets on the bed had a number of small discolored spots on them, but they did appear to be clean.
7. No sign of any bugs.
8. No bad smells.
Negatives:
1. Room poorly cleaned. I had to reach my hand behind the nightstand to plug in our clock, and so I looked behind the nightstand. I was almost afraid to reach down there it was so filthy; wrappers, Kleenex, food, etc.
2. Area around the bath tub poorly renovated; patches on the walls, cracked discolored ceiling, mismatched wall tiles, tub badly in need of grout.
3. Dirty ceramic floor tile in the sink area.
4. Upholstered chairs were covered with a thick layer of dust.
5. Entry door badly in need of paint. Someone removed the trim from around the door and just left it that way.
$50 dollars a night is a bargain, especially when a basic breakfast is included. For that price, I certainly do not expect perfection. Mismatched wall tiles and cracks in the ceiling are acceptable. However, cleanliness is not an option. Because the Garden Inn and Extended Stay was not as clean as we expected it to be, we will not stay there again.
