Booked online as the pictures show the room to be decent-looking and we weren't looking for anything fancy. Checked in and went out for dinner. Came back ready to get in bed, pulled back the sheet, and there was someone else's giant hairball in the bed. Sheets had obviously not been changed. Carpet was gross. As we were leaving to check out and find a non-filthy room at another hotel, two police officers were entering the room next door. Not sure what was going on but seemed to be alcohol-related. There seem to be a lot of long-term residents of the motel and it appears that police activity is not unusual because according to the desk clerk "they usually come by the front desk first". The desk clerk was very nice and apologetic and refunded our money with no problem.

Checked in and out within 30 minutes. The room smelled as soon as we opened the door, the carpet was FILTHY, the bathroom floor was yellow and sticky (our shoes stuck to it when we walked in to see it) and the door to the bathroom would not close (it did not fit the frame size). It was a nightmare!! Make sure you see a room up close and in person BEFORE you pay as we lost the money for the first night even tho we never touched a thing in the room.

This was a surprising find and had an extremely attractive price (35$
Internet booking through the Motel 6 web page) for 1 person. Room was
compact but clean. And the bathroom seemed to be up-to-date. The bathroom had a one-piece shower-only unit but no ugly grout and mold as found in other lower-priced units. Location was good, next to several restaurants. Don't expect a lot of extras (shampoo, pens, etc) but I didn't miss them. Work area actually had a power outlet where you could reach them without having to move furniture! I'd stay there again in a minute. Reservations may be needed, the place looked like it was almost filled up when I was there (a Friday night).

We were driving through Owensboro with plans to camp, but ran out of daylight so we thought we'd try the new Motel 6 which was quite visible from the main highway (431, just south of the US60 By-Pass). We were pleasantly surprised to pull up to the motel and see a pool! After driving most of that warm day, it was a delight to see. The staff was friendly and helpful and the there was a generous selection of cable TV stations (even HBO!). Right next door was a liquor store and there were restaurants up and down the street. Across the street was a BW-3 wings restaurant which is open late, so we were able to carry out dinner (after my 9 o'clock swim!) back to the room -- which had a desk big enough for me to spread out my dinner. All of this for about 50 bucks! Can't ask for more than that from a budget hotel nowadays, that's for sure. We would definitely return, given the opportunity. By the way, the people of Owensboro we met were all pretty cool!
