We stayed at the London Baymont Inn because it used to be a Hilton property and thought it would meet a minimum standard. The evening front desk was extremely personable and courteous and we found the room to be on par with most mid-cost roadside hotels* (*note, this locaiton does have some doors that open to the outside, much like older motels).
Unfortunately, the morning of departure we went down to the breakfast area and it was COMPLETELY empty by 9:30am. My family and I waited for 10 minutes for some type of restocking as there were not even bagels or muffins and most chaffing dishes had already been broken down and cleaned. We asked the attendant when she was going to restock and she rudely replied, "it would take too much time and the breakfast service would be over" by the time she re-stocked. Reminder, the breakfast is supposed to be served UNTIL 10am. The hotel was full that night, so it should be expected that the breakfast would be busy until the scheduled end (at 10am) - it is not like it was a surprise to the staff that they were full. Two sets of families went to the front desk to complaing prior to leaving without the "free breakfast," as did our family.
We were so bothered by the attendants reaction and the utter lack of any breakfast food that we took pictures planning to contact the owner when we returned home. His form letter response did included some amusing statements though, "we find that people will eat [food] as long as we put it out" ...and, "it takes at least 2 hours to clean up and set up for the next day."
I personally don't believe that the setup and breakdown overhead are the guests problem however. So, there appears to be a consistent philosophy towards food and labor costs and the "free buffet" at the Baymont Inn in London. I believe the same owner also owns the Hampton Inn at the next exit.
If you insist on staying at the Baymont Inn, London KY, I would advise you to get downstairs to breakfast before 9am or plan to eat at the Bob Evans down the hill. After 9:30, however, do not plan on a "free breakfast."
