My husband and I have stayed in this motel quite a lot over the last few years and usually have been satisfied, but not this time. The motel is in need of some major cleaning and repair. The hallway stunk like bad body odor and stale cigarrettes. The hot tub was unavailable for use with a sign on the door that looked like it had been there for awhile-closed for cleaning. This over a holiday weekend. The security system was not working as you didn't need your room key to get in after hours just openened the door. We were under tornado warnings but no one was informed as what to do or where to go for sheltar. For their continential breakfast, what a joke! They had a sign-one of several in the area by the waffel maker batter that said and I quote"this is all the batter that is made when it is gone there will be no more". They only had 7 cups of batter made for the whole motel population! Ther was no toaster available and no bread to toast-just stale 2-3 day old doughnuts and 2-3 muffins. No butter or jelly. There was note on the refigerator that you could only use the milk in the refrigerator for cereal, not to drink. Very, very, very disappointing. Also the drain spouts on the building were hanging off the building. Needless to say we will never stay here again. If I am going to pay 90.00 a night for a room then I expect to stay in a decent place. They have lost my business!!!!!

On 20 aug I made a reservation online for 31 Aug. I cancelled the reservation on 29 Aug online. I have confirmation numbers for both transactions.

In Sept when I reviewed my credit card bill I noticed a charge for TWO rooms at Super 8. I contacted the Super 8 in Rawlins, WY, the clerk took my name and number and told me I would be contacted later in the evening, no return call. I called the next night no return call.

I contacted Super 8 customer service and told them my story. I received a letter a week later stating that even though I had canceled my reservation I had contacted the motel directly and made another reservation which was charged to my card.

I explained that I had not made another reservation. Customer service gave me the confimation number and told me to take it up with the motel in Rawlins.

I contacted the Super 8 in Rawlins and asked them who made the reservation with the confirmation number that super 8 customer service provided me. The clerk told me it was an invalid confirmation number and no reservation exsisted with that number.

I asked the clerk who charged my cc for the two rooms under that number the clerk did not know and could not provide me with any explaination on who made the reservation, when it was made and what clerk took the reservation. The clerk told me to call Super 8 customer service if I had a problem.

I called super 8 customer service and was told that the super 8 in rawlins had all of that information I needed and that customer service was not going to do anything about it.

Do not conduct any business with the super 8 in Rawlins, WY. I would suggest not doing any business with any super 8 as you have no recourse when unauthorized charges are made to your credit card.

I have contacted my credit card company and I am in the process of disputing the charges.

Super 8 motel in Russell, Kansas--just off I-70. I
couldn't believe what I read--dirty, impolite, bad service.
I'm a contractor who did several weeks of work in and
around Russell in fall of 2004, using the Russell Super
8 as my home-away-from-home. Sometimes I'd stay several nights in a row, sometimes only one.
I found all aspects of their service to be top-notch--rooms clean, service friendly and responsive, etc. I often witnessed interactions of their personnel with other guests--same consistent courtesy and helpfulness.
For me, detailed weather information over internet is
particularly important, so I used their wireless service. When some rooms in the motel had weak signal, they moved me to a better room--no problem. On my next visit, they had installed another router that covered the problem rooms.
My work keeps me in motels, so I see great variations
in quality. The Russell Super 8 is one of the best.

My family and I travel back and forth from CO. to Kansas City several times a year. Our decision was based on staying at this motel mainly because of the staff, cleanliness and professionalism of the manager. My family was always treated like family. The rooms were clean, with the nicest, friendliest maids, always greeting us with a smile and asking if there was anything we needed.

Our complaint the last time we traveled thru Russell we made our reservations as usual, thru the 800 #. Upon our arrival we found the motel in disarray, filthy dirty, stinky and unfriendly. We arrived later than normal. My husband and I when we went to check in were greeted by a man wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt. He was yawning and came from a back room. First of all our reservations could not be found. He was at a total loss as what to do to get us to our rooms. He demanded we pay cash for our rooms. Our first insticnt was to leave but the children were tired and so were we. We finally headed for our rooms. When we opened the door the we found the room occupied by other people. We went down and was sent to another room. The manager/desk clerk, was not friendly. He was sarcastic and ignorant. We went to another room and that room we found the beds unmade, dirty towels and trash all over the room. That was the final straw. We asked for our money back. At first we were refused our money back until my husband showed him the pictures he had taken of the room showing the filthy condition it was in. We asked what happened to the other manager and staff and were told they had been replaced and he was the owner. At this point my husband DEMANDED out money back or he was calling the police. The owner advised us he didn't want that to happen as the police had been called before with complaints.

My question is this??? SUPER 8, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE BY SELLING YOUR NAME TO THESE TYPE OF OWNERS???? Are you proud of what these motels are being turned into??? We will NEVER stay at a Super 8 again!!! They not only lost our business in Russell, but Super 8 has lost our business all over the country.
