Spent one night at this Super 8 recently and I was just passing through and needed a place to stay for the night. I think they really need to take a look at the service. While the lady who checked me in was nice, it was obvious she didn't want to be there and seemed quick to get me out of the lobby and into my room.
All I needed was a standard room and was surprised to get one with a king bed and a nice recliner. It was great after the drive in to just chill on a recliner (as opposed to the bed) and watch TV before cashing in.
Folks, the place is basic and you get what you pay for. There was a strange smell in the hallway and thankfully it didn't get into the room. The room itself probably hasn't seen any sort of upgrade in a very long time and the king bed was firmer than what I prefer, but tolerable.
If you're just passing through and need a place to stay and are not picky about the quality of accommodations (and you don't have kids) this is a great place for you. If you do plan to spend a few days in Russell, or even have kids (I would have been very uncomfortable with my son staying here even with us...wife and son were traveling to our destination separately) go somewhere else. I do recommend the Fossil Creek Hotel across the street. While they are $20-40 more per night, it's very well worth it. I have stayed at another Americ-Inn (which is the former name of the Fossil Creek) and they are a hundred times nicer and much more comfortable.
The breakfast is very basic. All you get is cereal, some sort of danish looking thing, bread for toast, coffee, milk, and juice.
Bottom line is, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
