I like Candlewood suite hotels because of the room setup. A desk for computer work, kitchen appliances if you wish to use, and a comfortable bed.
However not all Candlewood suites are equal because of service and location. This particular hotel scores excellent on both those criteria. The service was outstanding from check in to check out. The location is great. Just a couple blocks off the expressway. In addiiton to that numerous restaurant and bars are within walking distance. I am going back next to Kansas City next month and will definitely stay here again.

The management of this particular hotel is beyond incompetent to inexcusable. I travel 300 plus days a year on business and have never had such an awful experience. The housekeeping is unreliable, managers are unresponsive, and the lack of professionalism is astounding. Housekeeping is a no-show more than half the time, do not disturb signs are ignored by the staff. The 24 hr front desk staff and phone access is not reliable. Be prepared to be locked out at any hour. I was overcharged by 30%, and when I finally made a complaint on the corporate website, the acting manager violated their own policy and took it upon herself to try to contact my employer and defame me personally in order to deflect responsibility for the gross conduct of the hotel management and staff. Avoid Candlewood at all costs. A full refund would not begin to make up for the experience I and my co-workers had at this hotel. Dishonest people, poor service, no integrity. We booked this hotel because everything up in this area was already booked. We were celebrating a PG Bachelorette Party. It was very nice set up kitchen, sitting area, and a bedroom blocked off and nice bathroom. We were a little upset because we booked a handicap one and they had the handicap guest overstay so we didn't get the one we need one but it all worked out because the doorways were still big enough. It wouldn't of work if we she was spending the night. Also we were told it was a full kitchen, and we didn't ask exactly what that mean so we ended up having stuff that needed an oven and it doesn't have one. But they were very nice and friendly. We forgot the wine opener and a blender and they had both for us to borrow. Also, the beds were pretty hard and so was the sofa bed. I typically like a harder bed, but this was still too much for me. Overall I would stay here again if had to be since they are set up nice and they have a few plus others don't like a movie library with there DVD players, the kitchens, and sitting area.
