We stayed here while visiting family. Good place to stay while in town. Too was clean, close to things in town, service good while we checked in.

Okay, I was a little frightened about staying here after reading all the negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was just fine, from the greeting at the front desk to the room itself, to the better-than-average "free" breakfast. I visit Hutchinson on average two to three times a year to attend events at the Cosmosphere, and this is the best hotel I have found in the area for the value. There are not a whole lot of hotel amenities at the "express" locations, but for a clean, comfortable, friendly place to stay, with a better-than-average breakfast in the morning, this place is fine. Several restaurants and the Mall within walking distance, maybe a mile to the Cosmosphere?

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express the night of September 18, 2011. I had a King suite. The hotel was ok, but in my opinion, far from the standards that I expect from a Holiday Inn Express! At check in, I did have to wait quite awhile, as there was no one at the counter to check me in (around 7 pm), without a sign on the counter top. After yelling "hello" and still no one, I was just about to leave, when finally someone showed up. The clerk complained about being the only one there, and rooms were done correctly and she had to correct other people mistakes.

The room was ok. Nothing fancy, but functional. Living room furniture was not comfortable for lounging. The bed was comfortable, and slept ok.

The breakfast area was not kept up , as many items were empty, and no one around to fill them (at 8:30 am). Tables were dirty, and the clerk at the counter looked bored. Papers were not accessible.

While I did get a late check out (as I am a platinum priority club member), it was not offered to me, and I did have to ask for it.

Overall impression -- nothing to brag about. The cost is not worth the service that is offered. As there are many options in Hutchinson, I doubt if I will return to this hotel. It felt cheap, impersonal, and very unfriendly.

this place gets worse every time I stay there. I have been staying there for years and it is always interesting to see what else has gone bad at every check-in. Unfortunately, I have not found anything any better in Hutchinson. The best thing that ever happened to me was when they were full and I had to drive 20+ miles to McPherson and stay at the Holiday Inn Express there. It was worth the drive. There has not been a penny spent on renovations since the place was built. THEY ALSO HAVE SMOKING AND NON-SMOKING ON THE SAME FLOOR. I never have found out the smoke is supposed to stay in the smoking rooms and not go to the non-smoking rooms. Every floor smells like an ashtray.
