Totally agree with the previous reviewer who said not to rely on GPS. We used an online application for directions and were sent on a wild goose chase using the hotel zip code.

When we finally arrived we were checked in quickly and efficiently.

Our room was spacious and absolutely spotless. All the expected amenities were present as well as a fridge.

We were concerned about the noise from the nearby road however it subsided after 10pm and wasn't an issue.

The hotel was very central for dining and shopping options and close to many attractions/places to visit.

A managers reception was held some evenings with beer and soft drinks on offer.

The pool looked clean and the laundry facilities were adequate.

All staff whom we encountered were friendly and helpful.

The public areas were also very clean and appeared to be quite newly decorated.

Would happily recommend this hotel and will return.

We followed our phone GPS, which took us the long way around and had us on "old LaPorte Road". We weren't far from our hotel, but we did stop at a gas station and ask. Hotel was typical clean HIE. We stay HIE a lot to get free nights and have not been disappointed.

If I were reviewing trying to book a room on the Holiday Inn Express website or by phone, I would give only one star. I have booked hotels, B and B's, and apartments all over the world, but their website would not accept two of my credit cards and I was only able to get a recording and then was disconnected when I called the toll free number of Holiday Inn Express. Yes, it was after midnight but an organization as large as this one should have 24/7 service as well as a more user friendly site. I gave up in disgust and decided to book through Orbitz and got a good rate.
The desk people weren't very friendly or helpful. I commented on my booking difficulties and was told that I was the first person to have any problems in that regard.
The room was clean and spacious but the walls were very thin. Don't turn off the air conditioner or you'll hear the amorous couple next door giving the headboard a good workout and people walking and talking from various places within the hotel.
In the morning, the water pressure was barely adequate for washing my hair and the water was not as hot as it should have been.
All in all, we will probably try to find another place to stay next time we have to go to Waterloo.

Very nice newer Holiday Inn Express. Rooms are modern and clean. Front desk staff needs some customer service training. Not particularly friendly and no recognition for PC status.
