I have stayed at this motel 4 times in the past 5 years. Every time has been a pleasant experience, but his time seemed to be the most pleasant. I arrived a day early to play in a Texas Holdem tournament at the Tama casino (not sure how to spell Meskwakie) and had a single bed room the first night and moved to a double bed room to share with my gambling buddy the rest of the time. The first thing I do when walking into a room for the first time is to check the coffee pot and cups. The coffee pots in both rooms looked like new and had a couple packets of coffee, and the cups are sealed in plastic wrap. I lifted the sheet and checked the mattress in both rooms and they looked like new and were comfortable. I check these thigs for my own peace of mind, not for Trip Advisor. The carpeting in both rooms looked like new, the walls looked like they had recently been painted, and the room was spotless. Both nights I had non-smoking rooms and there was no smoke odor what so ever. I asked the front desk person if the rooms had recently been remodled and she said she had been there for a little over a year and it was done before she got there. The management is obviously taking care of this place. I have comparrison priced the other motels in the area, but no longer bother with that as this Super 8 has always had the lowest price. There are gas/convenience stores in the immediate area, places to eat, a Dollar General and Pamida close by for those things you might have forgotten, and the casino is just a 7 or 8 minute drive, mostly on a new 4 lane highway. Also, the rooms each have a refrigerator and microwave, which is a plus. If I had to come up with a complaint it would be that the free breakfast isn't all that tasty, but it doesn't make much sense to complain about free. And, after all, this is a motel and not a restaurant. I have no problem telling family and friends about this motel. Oh yes, if you need a room with 3 beds as we did one year, they have a very roomy 3 bed room. I'll be staying here the next time I head to theTama casino to play poker. I didn't rate the service at all 5 stars because sometimes you have to call the staff on the phone at the front desk because they are tending to something else where.. It's not really a problem for me, but it might be for others, and I would only gig them a half circle if I could.
