“Comfortable and clean, but not at all what I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2010

I expected this hotel to be the Marriot equivalent of a Hampton Inn, with a great breakfast, modern décor, swimming pool, and everything else a Hampton Inn has (what I mean by "great", is a hot breakfast, with lots of *hot* selection). It did have a hot breakfast, but just waffles, which I could not have because of my gluten allergy. So I walked probably 500 metres in -7 Celsius weather, to Burger King, where there is plenty of selection; which was very good. This hotel does have a pool, but is very small (about 10 meters length, 4 meters width). Since the day I stayed over was Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to work out so I wouldn't gain any weight, I wanted to go to the fitness centre, only to find that this Fairfield Inn does not have an onsite fitness centre, I would need to walk 700 m. to a facility they have a deal with (not nice when it is -10 C outside!). This hotel seems to be old, there is no business centre, just one very old computer in the small breakfast area, and it kept kicking me off b/c it was broken. Very unpleasant stay, would recommend staying at Holiday Inn.

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO A FRIEND? If you are like me, no. But if you don't care about a fitness centre, or a cheap breakfast, yes; it would be just fine.

The Fairfield Inn is a really nice hotel.

If you have Marriott Rewards, staying at this hotel counts towards the rewards.

“Couldn't have been better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

Very nice office staff, nice breakfast area, pool, very large room, they didn't have a regular king bed so they upgraded us to executive king at no extra charge. microwave and mini fridge, good wireless, quiet, furniture was in good repair, a/c worked great, very clean room, very clean and comfortable bed. Good location near shopping and restaurants. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“Clean hotel, helpful staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

We stayed at a less desireable hotel in town the first night and were grateful to the staff at the Fairfield for finding three spare rooms for us on such short notice. Even though we had to deal with a large number of "soccer kids" attending a play off, we found the hotel catered to our needs and requests perfectly.

“Good Stay. No real complaints.”

We've stayed at many Muscatine hotels over the years for family visits. This time we experimented with Priceline and drew the Fairfield. Even the rack rate would have been worth it. It was a really nice hotel.

Let's get the negatives out of the way.....
-Check In: The check in process itself was no problem at all. It was raining a little hard when we arrived. What was kind of inconvenient is that almost every hotel I've stayed at has some kind of overhang at the front door so you can unload your car without getting drenched in bad weather. This Fairfield doesn't have one of these.

-Pool area: Definitely needs improving. Obviously you can't enlarge the pool itself which was a little small. There were always plenty of towels available and when they were running low, the staff was always bringing more in to keep it stocked. The one main problem with the pool area was that there were SEVERAL ants all over the pool tables and chairs. A couple visits from the Orkin man would take care of that so I wasn't that bothered by them.

Now for the positives..... :)
-Rooms: We had a double queen room on the top floor. Even though an amateur/college baseball team was on the same floor, we never had noise problems. The doors locked like they should. Room temperature was always good. Nice big television (that has a USB input). Bathroom was great and clean. And pillows....LOTS of pillows!! Each bed had FIVE (5) big pillows on a very comfortable bed.

-Breakfast: The usual hotel fare. Nothing to compliment or complain about.

Misc comments: Overall, a nice hotel. More than one ice machine would be nice (only on first floor). WIFI was always good (you have to sign up each dsay). If you're a Taco Bell person, there is one right across the parking lot. We'll be visiting again.
