Three friends decided to meet for a weekend. Finding a room to accomodate three people was not easy but there is a room here that will. Nila was a great hostess with her stories and suggestions on what to do and directions if we needed them. The food was great--wish there was more. The pigs are quite the conversation starter! This is an older home with character and there was hardly any noise from the other guests -even from those who "got home late"! I would stay here again.
It was my last weekend in Iowa City before moving to Los Angeles, and my girlfriend and I were looking for a place to escape to before our period of long distance separation began. The Golden Haug provided a fantastic getaway that offered more amenities for a lower price than the Sheraton or the Hotel Vetro. The room was clean and charmingly put together, we had a whirlpool and a king bed, and in the mornings Nila cooked our breakfasts herself and told entertaining stories ( I seriously think she missed her calling by not being a chef, btw). All in all, I can't praise this place enough, and can't wait until our next visit!
We had a really nice stay. Our room had a private entrance and was very charming. Breakfast and conversation in the morning was great.
It was our first time to stay in a bed and breakfast. The rooms were great and the owner was a fantastic host. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stay at the Golden Haug.
