We planned a trip to Iowa City over the 4th of July to visit our son who now works there. I had not thought of a B&B, but was not happy with the hotel choices and locations. I happened upon the Mission House and made reservations. It was the easiest reservation I ever made. I have stayed at a number of excellent B&B's over the years in various locations, so Ray and Shirley had a high standard to meet. When we arrived later in the afternoon, we were warmly greeted and shown to our spacious and spotless room. I loved having the small refrigerator in the room (and though it was mentioned on the website, it was an added bonus). We had a lot of room to spread out if we wanted to be in the room. I actually enjoyed a bit of downtime there. It was quiet and peaceful. The secured internet was fast enough and I didn't have to worry about others hacking into my computer.
Ray and Shirley are really the best. They make you feel like family and are there when you need them but leave you alone when you want quiet. It is the perfect balance.
Breakfast was outstanding. After eating too much, we would go for a long walk through the scenice neighborhoods or across the river.
Our son came to visit and meet the owners, and they also treated him like family.
The location of the home was so convenient to where our son works and lives. If we had needed to walk to downtown, we could have easily done that, too.
I am thankful that I chose this place as it added another dimension to our vacation and certainly made it beyon enjoyable!
Oh and it's funny that another review mentioned the hair dryers, but it sure was nice to have a real one rather than a typical hotel model that takes forever to use.
