I booked this by calling the hotel after the VA told me this was a good option. Mistake! It started with having to run the gauntlet of beer swilling smokers blocking the front entrance, don’t get me wrong everyone should get to relax but occupying the front entrance? The staff was ok until they told me I was on the third floor and couldn’t use the elevator due to painting underway in that wing. Having a prosthetic knee and only being in town to have a surgical intervention this was troubling. When I informed the desk person she literally shrugged her shoulders at me, seriously! From there it was somewhat out dated with a fresh coat of paint. The sprinkler heads in my room didn’t line up with the holes in the wall and then no one put a plate on it. All of the door frames had dozens of nails or screws in them, and all through the halls was dust and debris. Everything in my room was unplugged so when I arrived I had to not only shut the window, in January, but go on a little hunting trip to find all the outlets and cords. All bi@@@ing aside it was just overall a bad time and I recommend you spend the $10 to stay somewhere better.

We come to Iowa City annually for a college reunion and chose to stay at this hotel in November. We have been getting together for years, bouncing around to different hotels, but this was our 1st stay at the Heartland Inn. I have to say, this was the best experience that we have ever had! The front desk was very helpful and polite. We met the manager who was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. They had a convenient shuttle that took us everywhere we needed to go so we did not have the hassle of driving and parking in IC. The rooms were very clean and looked remodeled. One of our friends is VERY particular and this was the 1st time that a hotel on our trip has met her standards(major feat!!!). We will defintely make the Heartland Inn our stay for future reunions and would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!!!!!!

My wife and I have stayed at the Heartland many times and this is the best value in the Iowa City/Coralville area. It has a shuttle to the hospital which saves you time and money and the staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast service is great and the rooms are clean. The Manager converses with many of the guests, goes out of her way to make your stay the best possible, and has taken our feedback to improve the hotel. Thank you Heartland - you are the best!!!!

This hotel has bed bugs the room we stayed in had bed bugs in our bed they said that it wasn't but come on what bug lives in your bed.I will never stay there again.Don't judge the book by the cover.Ask them they have to tell you by law.Needless to say we don't have them i only seen three on our box springs freak me the hell out.
