First, let me say , I made a big mistake by not reading the reviews until I had nearly arrived at this so called hotel. I was going to Des Moines for X Mas to see my family. We drove all the way from SE Ohio in 24 hours with 3 adults 2 pug dogs and a new puppy. When we arrived I was greeted in a very surly manner by a rather large, poorly kept woman. I asked to see the suite she was putting us in before I paid as I have learned to do and always do. SHE REFUSED WITHOUT RUNNING MY CARD. It was late we were all tired and she was going to charge us regardless because because we didn't cancel in time so my friend went back in cancelled our 2nd nite gave her the card for one nite. We could not stay there the freeway noise was hideous, it was dirty, old, smelly, need I go on. We did not stay. I took her back tohe key told her I was contacting my credit card co. and definitely to cancel the 2nd nite. Called my card co. She charged me for 2 nites and charged me for more than what what was on my written quote. So I love Chase cards they contacted their fraud dept. told me not to worry, etc. I won't be paying for one nite much less 2. Think I'll change my card # no telling what she may try to use my card for. Good lesson, read the reviews and if they're all good believe only 1/2. No elevators; right on freeway, TV's older than dirt.

I stayed here a few weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised with what I found! A cute little apartment style hotel room! I was going to a show at The Val Air Ballroom and needed a room semi-close to the venue. The staff was awesome, and even gave us a ride in the shuttle to the venue so we only had to pay for a cab back to the hotel. Ask for a room towards the front for more quiet, or towards the back for more privacy. Normal hotel breakfast, but it's free, which is great for a frequent traveler like myself. Can't wait to stay here again, next time I will pack some kitchen items. Oh and totally dug the fireplace ammenity!

First let me say the staff here is great..really nice people who care. The rooms are more like small apartments, which is nice in terms of space. The hotel is a bit tired, but very clean and well cared for. The staff puts out a nice breakfast, and in the evening has a nice manager's gathering with drinks and lite food..very nice touch.
I travel all over the world, and have stayed at many fine hotels, this can not be considered a fine hotel.. Here is the rub..the walls are really thin, the highway noise is brutal, you can hear the guy upstairs going to the bathroom, the heater is loud, my toilet leaked so it ran often. I know you are thinking "well this guy is a light sleeper." Not really this place is just really loud..sad, because the people here do a lot of good things. I would not go back until they get some insulation sprayed in the walls.

We stayed one night at Chase Suites for a brief family reunion. My husband and I stayed in a queen suite with our 2 year old and 6 month old. Our room had a queen size bed and a pull out couch. Like all of the suites, we had a full kitchen in our room as well.

If it had been just my husband and I, we would have given this a better rating. However, we soon found that this hotel isn't that kid friendly. There was no pool for us to relax in as a family, and we had to walk outside to get our little guy out of the room. **There is an outdoor pool, but it was already shut down for the winter.** Unfortunately, it left our son running, jumping and screaming inside our room...which didn't bother us, but I'm sure it drove our downstairs neighbors NUTS.

2 of our blinds from the vertical blinds were broken off, but it appeared as if the cleaning staff had temporarily put them back in place so it didn't look like there was a problem. Once we tried to shut the blinds, however, the 2 panels easily fell out. We were left with quasi-blinds. The cable only had a good picture if my husband positioned the television a certain way on the wall mount. Which was fine, because we didn't plan to watch TV from the bed anyway. Sidenote - our room smelled like german potato salad / stale cigarette smoke / gross.

All in all, it was an OK stay. The breakfast was nice...make-your-own waffles, warm biscuits and gravy, bagels, toast, yogurt, milk and cereal. Coffee with flavored creamer too. :) This would have been a better stay if we weren't travelling with kids. If you're planning a family stay with young kids, I'd almost have to recommend staying at a different place with an indoor pool so you and your family can swim.

PS - The "room service" restaurant has closed. We called and asked for a menu that the hotel binder referenced...and were told it was closed. That made us laugh. :)
