“An incredible hotel”

We just returned from our weekend stay at The West Baden Springs Hotel, and can't say enough about it. The grounds and hotel are absolutely gorgeous. We were impressed with every detail in the character of the buildings. Staff was very friendly. We loved the atrium bar, Ballards. Our dinner at the 1875 Steakhouse at the French Lick Resort Hotel was also wonderful. In contrast to some of the other comments made on the ratings, we did not see a single dog, and found everything beyond our expectations.

“Too many dogs in hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2010

We have been several times and always see dogs in the hotel, usually small dogs being carried to or from the pet-friendly rooms. On both New Year's Eve and Day we saw several large dogs in many areas of both hotels, including the atrium where a jazz band played for New Year's Eve guests. At one point on New Year's Eve the owners of two large dogs had to separate the dogs from fighting. We were having drinks and snacks in the bar on New Year's Eve and the owner of a large dog (>100 pounds) brought his dog to the table beside us. We asked the bartender and manager about the health implications of allowing dogs in an area where food is served and they said it is not allowed but they make exceptions for tables close to the carpet. There were only two rows of tables - one row was next to the carpet and the other row was beside those tables so this is not really a restriction.

“Amazing place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2009

This entire complex (W. Baden Hotel, French Lick Hotel, casino, and all associated property) is simply amazing. We had never stayed at W.Baden hotel & always wanted to (We have stayed at French Lick Hotel many times.) W. Baden is more expensive, but we considered it an early Christmas gift to each other. We were not disappointed. We even reserved one of the balcony rooms overlooking the HUGE circular atrium. The room was big, bathroom was huge and nicely furnished with large walk-in shower, tub and double sink. Only thing bad were the pillows, but bed was comfortable; room clean & inviting. Had breakfast in the morning at the hotel & it was very delicious. The afternoon we checked in, we had a drink, sat at a table in the atrium - it was lovely. All staff, including the bellman and parking valet could not have been friendlier. The history of this place and French Lick is so interesting; make sure you take a guided historical tour put on the Ind. Historic Landmarks people. We toured this hotel in the mid-70's when it was closed, and fell in love with the place even though both hotels were deteriorating. Now, after the $500 million renovation, it is lovely. Not only is the entire resort lovely & inviting now, all the art work and history is worth just walking around and observing. We will return many times.

“Beautiful trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2009

We have stayed for the 6th time at the resort. I don't know what has happened to the beds they are the worst part of the trip. Even asked front desk for feather bed or something. So if you like sleeping on a brick you'll be fine.
Everything else is great the golf for a women is very good, my husband and I played new Pete Dye course, Jan is very hospitable and for a caddie ask for Mike or Tyler. Played the Donald Ross course for the first time, and it has alot of character and you use every club in your bag.
They are in process of putting up Christmas at both resorts. Kick-off week of Thanksgiving.
Denny's is open, a good place for a good priced breakfast. Dined at 1875 Steak House very overpriced for what you get. Should have stayed at West Baden and have eaten at Sinclairs.
Spa is going through some changes do ask for Monica for all facials, and Mark for all
your massage needs. No one available for hair services and they have beautiful area
for that but don't utilize it.

“Luxerious Hotel”

Beautiful drive in southern Indiana to West Baden Springs Hotel. All staff was courteous and went the extra mile to help. Room was large and very nice with two beds facing the atrium that afforded a great view. Double sinks were nice. It is pricy, but would be nice for a special ocassion.
