Stopped here for the night during our Route 66 tour. Ok room with funny bedsheet;) Free WiFi and close to Wendy`s. Breakfast was pour. Recommendable for people who are passing by, but I could never stayed over time.

Elected to stay at this hotel after an adventurous disaster in two other local hotels the night previously. My husband was not traveling with me and I did not have internet access, so he booked it and paid for it by phone for me. I checked in at 10:30 at night. He was giving the last room in the hotel to the woman standing at the desk....my room. He kept saying that my husband's card had been declined and that it was his fault. As we use only 1 card tied directly to my checking account you can imagine my surprise that when he ran my card for the same account it magically went through. He continued to say it had been declined in front of the other customer and proceeded to read my husband's bank card number out loud. The other customer decided to leave and I accept the keys as this person is still saying that it was not his fault. I called my husband and he said that he thought it was strange when the clerk did not ask for his expiration date on his card! AhhhhHaaaa, what do you know the clerk knew he screwed that up so tried to dump the blame on my hubby. I was not pleased. You can imagine my continued disgust to walk into a smoking room (only available) and immediately feel the old lungs burn. Even with the window open, the air conditioner blowing it never got better. I could have eaten cigarettes and they wouldn't have been as bad as this smell. Turns out the hotel had burned down previously, maybe it lingered! Gross, gross, gross!

I've always avoided Super 8 motels. But, using Pontiac as a good place to stop for the night on the way to Chicago, I thought I'd try it rather than staying at the Comfort Inn just down the street.

I'm very glad I did. The Comfort Inn is okay, but the staff there are awful, so I've never been particularly happy with it.

The Pontiac Super 8 is cheaper, cleaner, the rooms are nicer (although slightly smaller) and better equipped, and the staff are good. The *only* downside was the peculiar layout for the breakfasts - they simply don't have realy enough room to lay out a breakfast and have people sitting about. No real problem, but a little peculiar.

So, Super 8 Pontiac it is from now on.

I've stayed in the Pontiac Super 8 several times and it has always been very clean. The staff are friendly and it's a quiet place to stay. The price makes it an excellent bargin at $40-$45 a night.
