This was our 5th trip to Hawk Valley, and once again it was just wonderful. We have been there in the Fall & in the summer, but I have wanted to see Hawk Valley with snow. It did not disappoint! It was beautiful! The snowcovered views of the landscape were breathtaking. I tried snowshoeing for the first time, and we sledded and walked the property just taking in the fresh crisp air, beauty & serenity. Jane's Gourmet breakfasts were a yummy start to the day, as well as the wonderful company shared by all the guests there. Anyone who is looking to just get away with the one you love, this is the place.

Hawk Valley was a very beautiful bed and breakfast. My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing getaway from the busy city of Chicago and Galena was definitely a good choice. Hawk Valley is in the countryside where we didn't have to experience the loud noise of traffic from a city. We sat and watched the wildlife on the property and enjoyed seeing all the deer. Jane was very welcoming and was willing to do anything to make our stay wonderful. She gave us great recommendations for our evening dinners and great ideas on things to do while at our stay. We loved her breakfasts in the morning, also. We stayed in a cottage and enjoyed that we didn't have anything in our busy lives to worry about. We will definitely be back again!

This was the 4th time we stayed at Hawk Valley Retreat for a family gathering. It feels like home to the 13 of us but we don't have to cook breakfast or clean up after it. Our hostess Jane let us use the large dining room table for an evening of games. She also provided us with sleds and snowshoes to enjoy the beautiful snow. During our last stay in August, we used her poles for fishing in the pond and made a bonfire to cook hotdogs and marshmallows. We'll be back!!!

We recently returned from another great stay at Hawk Valley. We stayed in the main house (Swan Lake room & the kids in the Woodlands room). The rest of our group was out in two of the cabins. The property was a lovely winter wonderland. Something for everyone - sledding hill and snow shoe hikes for the adventurous, beautiful wooden puzzles to challenge the mind and comfy chairs for relaxing/reading/watching the sledding crew. Jane's breakfasts are still some of the best food in Galena. The baked french toast, egg casserole, pecan rolls, etc - let me just say there is no need to eat until dinner. This was our first winter visit as a family and it was easily as wonderful as the summer trips have been.
