“Great stay”

Visited Danville under sad conditions as wife's brother had passed away. However, the stay at the Riverside Inn was the one bright spot of the trip. Wife and I both slept exceptionally well as the bedding appeared to be new. Room had older fixtures and TV but they were comfortable and very clean. Staff was very nice and efficient.
Management has worked to make the bedding something you will remember. Large selection of pillows, very attractive and light but very warm comforter. I feel comfortable recommending this room to anyone under any condition.

i stay here 4 a night and compare to other hotel in danville ve no complaint about it. the desk clerk was nice and while i dont understand why they will not take money it was no problem

Were staying for a wedding, there had been a 'block' of rooms reserved. Upon arrival was told the reservations were 'messed up' later found out from the brides' mother, they had lost the whole reservation. We were told we could not have the King Smoking room we had reserved. The manager was a total jerk, told me he was taking me out of the reservation and I could go where ever I pleased. And he said this several times. After traveling 300 miles with a wedding in 2 hours and the rest of the group staying there I was not going elsewhere, I just wanted what I had reserved. I took the room initally offered at the beginning. Upon going to the room found it stripped. The front desk girl got the housekeeper and said it would be ready in a few min. We wait about 20 min. when we went back they had sprayed so much orange scent my husband and I both had to use our inhalers. The room was disgusting, the beds had at least a 4 inch sag in each in the middle. As my husband put it the bedspreads smelled like a dirty a--. There is no way this room should have been even rented to anyone. I have stayed in hotel/motels for 20 years ,always a smoking room and have never ever had one that smelled as bad. This was plain filth. The carpet looked clean, however the dirt on my feet after walking on it told me different. There were 3 other rooms rented and I checked each, all were clean with new mattresses on the beds. The others all were appalled at the condition and smell of ther room we had. They also charged more than was agreed upon when initally booked. (Remember they lost the reservation). They charged more than initally agreed. When I said something to the dest girl, while I was waiting for the room to be 'cleaned' she called and said the rate would be adjusted. They did run our credit card again with a lower price, now just waiting to see if we are charged twice on the credit card. They told us they would also adjust the rest of the rooms, but when everyone checked out this was not mentioned to them, so we will see. But my guess is no one else will have their rate adjusted. I wish we had arrived at 1pm which is when we were told we could check in, I would not have stayed here. I have never ever had anyone in management talk to me the way this manager did, and I have never ever stayed anywhere so filthy. As I said everyone elses' rooms were fine , even though they were not ready when they arrived either. But I will never stay here again and most likely will never stay at a best western again. Danville in August for another wedding and will not be staying at Best Western.

“No Credit card no room”

I am a handicapped person who goes to Danville to the VA hospital and some times need to spend the night in Danville IL. On May 5th 2010 I tried to get a room at this motel because I had another appointment on the 6th but couldnt rent a room because I dont have a credit card and I guess paying in cash isnt good enough to be able to stay there.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience you had experienced with our credit/debit card policy required for check-in. Like many other hotels, we have this policy to cover incidental charges that can occur at our hotel. Our goal was to not dissatisfy any of our guests, like yourself. This is obviously an old hotel that's been redone....sort of. Carpets are new and clean. Sink counter is new and looks like bathroom tile is new. TV, furniture and comforters are still dated though....old enough looking that my husband didn't want the kids to sit on the chairs and wanted the comforters pulled off the beds. I personally thought this place was clean enough and safe enough but my husband who is a business traveller would not choose to stay here again, felt it was below average.

I chose this hotel because we had an early morning flight out of CMI and apparently there was a huge football game going on this weekend that the closest open hotels were in Danville (about a 40 minute drive). The best thing about the Best Western is that it's a short hop to get back on I-74 and back on the road.

I would like to thank you for staying with us. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience you had occurred during your stay.

I would like to take this time to apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. My staff and I are working hard to correct the deficiencies you had described. Since your stay we have removed all bed spread (comforter) coverings and we have switched to a triple sheeting style bedding. With this new bedding program this provides our guest with a clean and sanitary bed program, as all linens are laundered daily. With your feedback we have also contracted a new company to deep clean our chairs, again to ensure a clean and sanitary room. We are in the process of contracting new in-room furniture and I am sorry that we could not complete this prior to your stay.

I hope you will give us another chance to serve your hospitality needs when you're traveling through the area. We hope to see you in the future. I would like to wish you a great day and happy travels. Thank you again for the comments and suggestions.
