Were staying for a wedding, there had been a 'block' of rooms reserved. Upon arrival was told the reservations were 'messed up' later found out from the brides' mother, they had lost the whole reservation. We were told we could not have the King Smoking room we had reserved. The manager was a total jerk, told me he was taking me out of the reservation and I could go where ever I pleased. And he said this several times. After traveling 300 miles with a wedding in 2 hours and the rest of the group staying there I was not going elsewhere, I just wanted what I had reserved. I took the room initally offered at the beginning. Upon going to the room found it stripped. The front desk girl got the housekeeper and said it would be ready in a few min. We wait about 20 min. when we went back they had sprayed so much orange scent my husband and I both had to use our inhalers. The room was disgusting, the beds had at least a 4 inch sag in each in the middle. As my husband put it the bedspreads smelled like a dirty a--. There is no way this room should have been even rented to anyone. I have stayed in hotel/motels for 20 years ,always a smoking room and have never ever had one that smelled as bad. This was plain filth. The carpet looked clean, however the dirt on my feet after walking on it told me different. There were 3 other rooms rented and I checked each, all were clean with new mattresses on the beds. The others all were appalled at the condition and smell of ther room we had. They also charged more than was agreed upon when initally booked. (Remember they lost the reservation). They charged more than initally agreed. When I said something to the dest girl, while I was waiting for the room to be 'cleaned' she called and said the rate would be adjusted. They did run our credit card again with a lower price, now just waiting to see if we are charged twice on the credit card. They told us they would also adjust the rest of the rooms, but when everyone checked out this was not mentioned to them, so we will see. But my guess is no one else will have their rate adjusted. I wish we had arrived at 1pm which is when we were told we could check in, I would not have stayed here. I have never ever had anyone in management talk to me the way this manager did, and I have never ever stayed anywhere so filthy. As I said everyone elses' rooms were fine , even though they were not ready when they arrived either. But I will never stay here again and most likely will never stay at a best western again. Danville in August for another wedding and will not be staying at Best Western.
