We had a Prestige suite, but upon check in, I asked if the Presidential suite was available and it was. They gave me a discount from the normal rate, and we were set. The room was spectacular with a full lobby with guest bathroom, full living room with sitting area, a HUGE bedroom, and spectacular marble bathroom. If I was to guess, the room is around 1300 square feet including the lobby, living room, bedroom and bathroom.
We liked that there was a large 60 inch TV in the room that is in a very nice swivelling entertainment center. This allows you to move the TV so that you can lay in bed and watch TV.
It also had a small area with plants in the bedroom that was a nice touch. The views from suite 3209 were just spectacular and they truely gave us 3 full views of the city and partial views of Lake Michigan. The service was top notch as well with turn down service several times a day. The last morning that we were there, we did breakfast in bed and the food was prompt, and tasted great.
The bed was very comfortable and seemed to have a downed top overlay that we liked.
The bathroom was SPECTACULAR. It had a small TV positioned perfectly so that you could lay in the very modern bathtub, and enjoy 2 views of the city, and watch TV at the same time. It is ceiling to floor marble, with granite countertops. The shower was huge, and all of the soaps in the entire suite, from the guest bathroom, to the shower and bathtub were Hermes Paris and had a great fragrance. They also had a selection of 3 bath salts in beautiful silver containers in the bathroom that my wife enjoyed.
The bar was very nice and the bar staff were very good. The bartender even made a recommendation for pizza at Pizano's just around the corner that was so good, we ended up eating there twice on this trip.
The lobby is very trendy and modern, but was very warm and welcoming. The staff at the front desk was exceptional and quickly and easily renegotiated a new rate for the Presidential suite, even after we had already gone up to our room and it was not a problem. All in all, we really liked the location, and the suite was spectacular. We generally try to stay at Ritz Carlton's or Four Season's properties, but for our trip to Europe in May, we may consider trying Sofitel's.
Room Tip: If the Presidential Suite is available, they will negotiate the rate with you. They started at 1200...
