“Wish We Could Have Stayed Forever!”

Everything has already been said in reviews of this grand hotel! At every step, our expectations were exceeded! We arrived very early (7:30 a.m. due to this being the only flight from our town), and were quickly checked into a beautiful Gold Coast Suite (1402). One could not ask for more in room accomodations. The suite was large, well-laid out, with opulent marble baths, superb shower, comfy beds, convenient lighting controls, and a superb fireplace! The service by everyone was first-rate and personal. For example, Roy was happy to print boarding passes and deliver them our room the night before our departure. This is a no-tipping hotel, yet the staff outperformed our expectations each time! The spa was relaxing and first-rate! We hardly left the hotel for food, as the restaurant/room service were excellent (though not inexpensive). For example, when we ordered toast, it was not warm bread, nor burnt edges, but perfect toast. Every detail of the fruit plate, berry bowl was equally perfect! The friendly driver took us to the Art Institute of Chicago in the hotel's Lexus at a moment's notice. The hotel had booked transportation from O'Hare prior to our arrival, and that went off without any trouble (like always happens in NYC). Housekeeping was non-intrusive, and there was not a water spot or dust particle to be found (I am picky)!

After looking over the negatives cited by Tripadvisor reviewers (very few, I must say), I found the elevators to be very fast, and the room service speedy and perfect. Yes, it is possible that the square footage is exaggerated, and there wasn't a towel hook by the shower. So what? Everything else more than made up for that! If you want a really extravagant stay in Chicago, stay here!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have less traffic noise. 1402 was immaculate!

“Beyond wildest dreams ... Complete hotel utopia!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Hotel just changed from Elysian to Waldorf Astoria Chicago this month. We were worried that its reputation wouldn't carry over. Not only were the reviews accurate but the rooms were slightly discounted with a suite upgrade! No complints only rave reviews for the location, service, amenities and value.

“so very nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I stayed here for one night while on a business trip and really enjoyed it. The bed was super-comfortable, the staff was great, and the spa was fantastic. I have absolutely no complaints and would stay here all the time if I could.

“Best hotel we've ever been to!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Elysian on our wedding night and the night after. We couldnt have started our honeymoon at a better place. I'm an interior designer and am a little snobby about hotel atmosphere. The only disappointment you have here is having to leave.

I must say I am a little saddened that they were bout out by a Hilton company. It seems to take away from the exclusivity of the Elysian name but I'd still go back!

“Superb hotel in Chicago sets a new high watermark for excellence.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This hotel is 5 stars all the way. I travel extensively and the Elysian is as good if not better than my favorite hotels in Asia.

The staff are fabulous and the service is a standout. From the greeter, front desk, gym, room service everyone was warm and responsive.

My room was huge with a drawing room with open fire, double bathroom big enough to hold a ball in and bedroom to match.

We had dinner in the bistro which was very well expecuted and breakfast there in the morning was just as good.

The gym was modern, clean and very well equipped. My only gripe is that we only had one night!
