“Price Gouging!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Flight at Ohare was cancelled due to some snow Jan 20, 2012. Clerk at desk tells me "our rate for TODAY is 199.00 per night". There were 700 flights cancelled at Ohare on this date. Found out later that the normal rate for my room on a friday is 109.00. Will never stay here again and will make sure everybody I know that travels in this area knows about what happened to me.

Room Tip: Stay away during snow storms!

We are very sorry for the poor impression you may have received due to the rate quoted to you on January 20, 2012. Our rates fluctuate according to supply and demand and do not only fluctuate daily but can even fluctuate throughout the day. This is a normal practice in our business but certainly not as an intent to take advantage of our guests. As the hotel gets busier, the demand for rooms is higher and with less rooms available, the room rate becomes higher. If a guest has an advanced, confirmed reservation at a certain rate, that rate is not changed, however, as the hotel gets busier, new reservations may be confirmed at a higher rate. We hope that you can understand our position, and that you will allow us another opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Sincerely,

Anna Falco

“Beware when there's bad weather at O'Hare!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Had to stay here on 1/20/12 due a flight cancellation. Had just stayed in a Queen suite down the road for 12 nights for $ 79.99 pr night and it was a nice place. The Hilton on the other hand has average accomodations and they hosed me for $ 231.00 for one night! Went down to restaurant to have a beer, $9.75 each!!!! Needless to say I only had one. My wife and I stay at a NICE place on the ocean in San Juan,PR each year for about the same money. I just looked on their (O'Hare Hilton) website, and the same room is listed for $ 109.00. So here's how I see it when there is bad weather at O'Hare, you do NOT want to stay at the hilton, because they know you need somewhere to stay and they're going to stick it to you as hard as they can. There is nothing special about this place, so be warned travelers, they are praying for bad weather. Hilton, you should be ashamed.

“Location = Wonderful Convenience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

O'Hare Hilton, Chicago. First visit, and we love this place. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Comfortable recliner conducive to relaxation. Public spaces are exactly as depicted on their website. Indoor pool- suitable for a dip, laps, as well as jacuzzi. Large gym on premises- subject to daily fee. WALK to hotel from any terminal through the underground walkway or take the terminal connector shuttle to Terminal 2. WALK to CTA BLUE LINE subway. 40 minutes to the Loop. Breakfast buffet is nothing short of spectacular. We enjoyed the hospitality of the GASLIGHT CLUB, on lobby level. Great steaks, food, and ATMOSPHERE. Talented piano player - welcomes sing alongs. Restaurant is richly decorated with red velvet wallpaper- dramatic chandeliers- in a turn of the century San Francisco Barbary Coast motif. At the conclusion of our stay, wewalked from the room to our gate! NO SHUTTLES- AND WE DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE. There is only one hotel in our future for Chicago- the O'Hare Hiltom.

Room Tip: Must visit the gaslight Room- if even for a night cap.

“Ask for one of their Allergy-Friendly Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I really hope this is the future model for all hotel rooms. It makes so much sense. I don't even have allergies but just think this is smart. These rooms feature: hardwood floors, all cotton linens, and an air purifying system. There's no drapes or curtains to capture dust -- rather they use a japanese-style shaded sliding door system to give you window privacy.
Can you imagine how dirty typical hotel carpets are? I don't even want to think about it. These rooms are really enjoyable. My room was on the 5th floor. I'm not entirely sure how many allergy-friendly rooms they have but I'm assuming a handful. I know you can choose between a king room and a two-bed room. I chose a king. There's a generous desk area where I was able to fit both my work and computer plus the trays for my dinner and multi-task due to my late arrival. Speaking of arrival, this hotel is connected straight to terminal 2. Don't even have to leave the airport which I appreciated since it was 8 degrees the cold January night I visited. Add all this to a great gym, a good Italian restaurant, a (small) sports bar and all that Chicago has to offer and it was a great start to a week of business travel across the mid-west and mid-atlantic.

“Location is Everything About this Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I've stayed at this hotel several times in the past, the most recent being in January of '12. Simply put, the hotel location smack dab in the middle of O'Hare airport keeps me coming back. The rooms are basic and tiny. The service is average for the price range. It is clean, bedding is fresh, and it is surprisingly quiet considering it's location. This is the only hotel directly on the airport property. It allows you to take a very short walk to your terminal without the need for a shuttle or cab. Thus, there isn't much to compare it to. The convenience this hotel provides far outweighs its flaws.
