Whenever I'm in Chicago, this is my first choice for a hotel. The staff is always welcoming and the hotel has a number of little touches that make a routine business trip special. One of my favorite things is that they don't soak you (like some other hotels) for WiFi. The beds are comfortable and the restaurant downstairs is great.

My husband and I stayed at the Burnham while attending the annual Chicago Blues Festival in June 2011. It's a great location for the festival because it is definitely within walking distance. Our room was smallish but comfortable. The price was also good. The bathroom didn't have enough shelf space but was otherwise modern. We liked the historic nature of the hotel and the interesting architectural features. I'd agree with other reviewers who say the staff is very helpful and the popular bar/restaurant downstairs is good. We would stay there again.

We've stayed at The Burnham for the past few years, both when passing through Chicago & enjoying a long weekend. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff is unbelievably friendly & we always feel at home here. We sometimes travel with our dog & this is the only hotel I would consider in that case. The location is wonderful, the Atwood serves good food & the overall feeling of the hotel is warm & welcoming. The rooms are always spotless & we always enjoy our time there. We loved it so much that we extended our stay an extra day over New Years weekend!

Four and half stars (I'm a very tough rater).

Perfect location and a must for anybody interested in architecture. This was one of the first modern skyscrapers in the world. Maybe because this was Chicago in January, but the price (I thought) was more than reasonable for being smack-dead in the middle of the Loop. My room was very nice, although the view was nothing to speak of (but this is not a criticism. Every hotel has to have a few rooms without any view, and I opted for a reasonable price over a view). Certain floors (accessible to everyone) have lobby areas which show off the full display of original iron work. A walk down the interior stairs is a must!
