“look elsewhere”

This is a worn out, older hotel, without much more than superficial rennovations. We stayed 3 nights, in 2 different rooms. First night was OK, room decor was on old side, old ugly pink/purple peeling wallpaper in bath area, old dingy shower cover-up, so-so bed. Second night were regularly disturbed by stomping on floor and slamming of door by upstairs neignbor, called front desk at both midnight and 6 am, didn't do much good. Fitted sheet didn't stay on the mattress well, woke up in middle of night after tossing/turning due to loud upstairs neighbor to find I was sleeping directly on the mattress, had to get up and put fitted sheet back on, but it kept coming off, so annoying. Water in shower, even after careful adjustment, goes from hot to cold to almost scalding back to normal temp., over and over again. For third night, asked to move to room on top (3rd) floor, thought we'd avoid over-head noise that way, and we did, but in exchange for neighbor who let the old, heavy metal door slam shut every time they came or went, which was very loud and woke us up a few times, including at 6 am on a Sunday morning. Breakfast is mediocre - crumbly, weird scrambled eggs, dried out bacon, greasy french toast sticks, and an assortment of cheap, white-flour bread products, and cheap gross coffee. After first morning eating there, we went elsewhere for remaining mornings. Generally disappointing, got poor sleep, will never stay there again. Lots of other newer hotels in the area, will check those out next time!

Room Tip: ask for top floor room to avoid noise from above

“Great room for the price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We received a great deal for our room on Priceline. The room was very clean, the linens were new and very comfortable, and the hotel was remarkably quite! The only drawbacks were the outdated furniture and tiny vanity/sink area. Would stay again, but wouldn't pay full price.

“Good value, clean and convenient”

We stayed here for a night on our way to South LakenTahoe and again on the return journey back to Canada. The room was clean and tidy but the towels are starting to wear a little thin and need some exposure to fabric softener. The beds are comfortable and well presented. I didn't use the tv so cannot comment. Staying here provides you with a 10% discount and the Applebees conveniently located within a 2 minute walk. Breakfast is included in the price. Nothing to rave about but there is a wide variety including fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, fresh waffles and eggs, bacon, etc. I have visited this hotel for several years while makiin the same journey and would be happy to do the same in future.

“Pleasantly surprised”

We were nervous because we don't usually stay in Best Westerns and all of the pet friendly reviews on trip advisor grossed us out. Oh how I hate the fact that people let animals stay in the same places as humans. However, the room was nice. It was dated. There were some mildewish stains on the bathroom ceilings, but the floor was clean and the beds were clean and very comfortable. We had a good night sleep. I'd say it's a 2 1/2 star hotel. the food was gross, but what do you expect? It's free at a best western.

“Amenities are not from this decade, but staff is great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

TV reception was so bad, that there was snow on the images. No game hook ups available. There was internet available, but the signal was so week, our lap top couldn't connect to the internet.

Staff are really great. They really tried hard to make our stay enjoyable. We couldn't stay without modern amenities, so the staff allowed us to cancel our reservation. No charge. That was very nice of them to work with us.
