“Waste of Money”

I was looking for a way to celebrate our 13th anniversary and had always thought it would be fun to stay at a nice hotel in town. The anniversary inn came to mind and they even had a 40% off deal for the summer so I was excited about the prospects. I went down in the afternoon to have a tour of the rooms. The lady giving the tours was very pleasant and helpful. I found the rooms to be dark and the furnishings sparse. The murals on the walls were nice and the themes were interesting but I noticed all of the rooms had 10 year old projection TVs and many rooms seemed a little old and run down. Since my anniversary was in two days the rooms I really wanted were reserved already. But of the 30-40 rooms that are available less than 10 were reserved 2 days in advance even with the 40% off summer special. That should have tipped me off but it didn't so I went ahead and settled on a room that I thought would work. As I was making my reservation, the woman at the front desk was reading me ... Since my anniversary was in two days the rooms I really wanted were reserved already. That should have tipped me off but it didn't so I went ahead and settled on a room that I thought would work. As I was making my reservation, the woman at the front desk was reading me all these disclaimers that I found strange but didn't think too much about because I was excited to treat my wife to a nice evening (this should have tipped me off as well). I gave my credit card and was told there was a $50 non-refundable deposit. I was okay with that. After I made the reservation, I decided to look around some more since I wasn't entirely happy with what I had reserved at anniversary inn. As I was researching other options I came upon Hotel 43. It had newer furnishings, beautiful 2 room suites, comfortable king size beds, jacuzzi tub and seemed cleaner and brighter to me all for the same regular price and that turned out to be what I wanted to do instead. The next day I called anniversary inn less than 24 hours later expecting to lose my $50 deposit. They informed me that since I was cancelling less than 72 hours before my reservation that I would be charged for the full cost of the room. I told them that I had made the original reservation less than 72 hours in advance but that didn't matter to them. They were unwilling to accomodate me. In the end, they took my money and I had a fabulous time at Hotel 43. The idea of an anniversary inn is a good one, but the reality of going to a hotel for the sole purpose of celebrating your anniversary (and everyone there knowing it) is somewhat creepy. Going to a nice plush hotel with top notch customer service, free valet parking, awesome room service with a delicious breakfast made our stay at Hotel 43 a memorable one and one I would highly recommend over the Anniversary Inn if you're going to splurge on your anniversary anyway.

“Romantic Staycation Destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

Great romantic get-away. The rooms are theme rooms. So if you want to get away with that special someone, this is a great place to do it. Get on line to check out the rooms and call for availability and specials! You can literally get lost in your room for at least 18 hours, just enjoying a romantic weekend. Great service. Outstanding breakfast tray delivered to your room. Great movies available and included. Close to downtown Boise.

“14 years together celebrated, thanks Anniversary Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2010

My wife and I had a great time at the Anniversary Inn. Stayed in the Sultan's Palace room. Our experience was a great night away from the kids. They brought 2 free movies to our room instantly at our request. Soaking in the jacuzzi was like a small pool it was so big! Make sure and fill up the jacuzzi before you turn on the jets, I squirted water accross the room. Bed was ok, breakfast came exactly when we wanted it to. You get to choose up to 4 drinks, yogurt, cinnamon roll, ham & cheese crossaint. The only problem was the sound on the TV was hard to hear over the fan right next to the bed. Overall had a great time and look forward to staying here in the future.

“worst night's sleep ever”

The mattress was so old there were impressions in it that showed through the bedding... lumpy, hammocking on both sides and a hump in the middle. When we told the staff about the horrible mattress, we got a very uncaring 'sorry'. We publish a magazine and will tell our readers. The moaning neighbor did not help our sleep. I would much rather stay at a suite at the Grove Hotel downtown or Hotel 43 for the $$$.

“Horrible Customer Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2009

My mother-in-law and I made a reservation 3 months before my wedding day. The Anniversary Inn called me two days before my wedding day to tell me the room I reserved was under construction and wouldn't be ready. They had intended on having it remodeled in time.

I reserved the Sports Central room, and the receptionist said, "Really? No one ever reserves that room!" It makes me wonder why they choose to remodel it the one week out of the year that there was a reservation.

My husband and I got married on the season-opener of Boise State's football team against the U of O - arguably the biggest game we had played on our home turf - the least I could do for him was give him a sports-themed room. Also this is the only room in the hotel without a TV across from the bed (important to me) and the only room in the hotel with recliners instead of uncomfortable bistro chairs.

They had planned to have it remodeled into a Bronco Bash room before my wedding without telling me ... with blue carpets and orange walls. I didn't reserve a Boise State room; I reserved the room with NFL and baseball memorabilia on the walls also. If the construction had been completed on time, I would have shown up on my wedding night to a room I didn't reserve in the first place!

None of the staff were even apologetic or understanding. They were rude, defensive, and unaccodomating. Anyone who has ever been a bride-to-be or been part of a wedding understands that the few days before a wedding are stressful enough without your hotel canceling on you!
