“Great place to stay!”

I was very surprised to see that this Holiday Inn treated us as if we were staying at a 5 star hotel. The rooms were very clean and my 5 year old daughter was beside herself because she had her own little room, the kids suite. It had bunk beds and great little kid lights on the wall. She also had a tv with a dvd player to watch her movies. The hotel gave out cookies at check in and also had popcorn machine for guests on sat night. The breakfast was great., eggs, biscuits and gravy, assorted muffins and breads. The best was the delicious cinnoman rolls, hot and fresh every morning. The hotel staff was great. Our host chelsea handled a soccer team and 2 other familes checking in all at the same time, with great patience i might add. We will definately go back.

“Stay Away”

This hotel is in need of a major renovation. I chose it because of its proximity to the airport and that is the only positive thing about this place. As I walked into my room, I was greeted with a strong musty smell. Upon putting my things down, I notice that the walls were extremely dirty. There were black marks, smudge stains, and white patches of paint. Since I was there for only 1 night, I decided that I could suck it up. I decided to do some work on my laptop and noticed that the wi-fi connection wouldn't work. I called the front desk to let them know and they said they would reset their router and would call me back. I also told them about the musty smell and asked if they could do something about it. Someone finally calls me back 20 minutes later and asked if the connection worked.....no it didn't. She suggested that maybe I didn't know how to work my computer, which is ridiculous because I was using it all week at other hotels. At this point, I am getting irate because I really need to do some work and the mustyness was getting to me. All of a sudden, the Manager knocks on my door and tells me to move to another room...almost shooing me out. She said she was going to give me an upgraded room. Upon walking into that room, I noticed the dirty walls again. I asked her about it and she said it was because they had gotten new TV stands and the old ones caused all the dirt and they haven't had time to paint. We try the wi-fi again and finally it works but is very weak. Finally, she said she would come back with a new set of keys for me. She never returned. Then I went to the bathroom to grab a tissue.....there were no tissues inside. I sucked it up because I was only there for 1 night and the other area hotels were way too expensive for a last minute reservation. I've been traveling for business for over 10 years and this is the first time that I've been prompted to write a review on TripAdvisor. Needless to say, I will never return to this hotel again. The walls need to be re-painted, furniture replaced, and customer service needs to be overhauled.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2008

I really enjoyed my stay at this Express Holiday Inn. I chose the hotel because of it's location, free breakfast and availability of a 'suite'. I stayed with my two teenage sons. I booked the one and only 'family suite room'. It's a shame they only have one of these rooms as they are great for families with kids. Of course my teenagers thought the bunk bed room was too "kiddie like" because of the decor. The room is separate from the king size bed area however it does not have a door (if that matters to anyone). I liked the fact that the kids room had it's own TV which had a built in DVD player and VHS player. This was a big plus as my kids like to watch movies. The king bedding was soft and the bed was comfy. The kitchenette area was small but it had a nice fridge and small microwave that suited our needs. It was also stocked with paper plates, cups and utensils- nice to have. The bathroom was small but clean with plenty of thick towels! The free internet was alluring to me when I chose the hotel however it was very, very SLOW and I couldn't even access some sites so don't depend on it if you really need it. There is a small computer area with a printer near the front desk- this came in handy as I was able to print my boarding pass. The free breakfast was tasty- not a big selection but it certainly saved us money. Their hot cinnamon buns are scrumptious and they have warm cookies upon arrival. there is also a small area to purchase microwave food, snacks, sodas, toiletries, magazines etc. I don't know if the pool was open as it is out of season but I took a peek at it and it looked clean- the surrounding pool area is nice but it is a little small. The workout room was very small as well and we never got a chance to use it.

Overall- I would certainly stay here again- I got a nice room rate, booked directly with the hotel web site.

  • Liked — The family room was great, free breakfast was good, nice decor, clean hotel in a nice quite area
  • Disliked — slow internet

“This is a good hotel.”

I was in town for training and had a special lower rate for attendees- so, hey, why not give it a try. I stayed Sunday through Wednesday. I stay in lots of hotels and this one I rank above the usual Holiday Inn Expresses, Comfort Inns, etc. The desk clerks were on the ball. They seemed to be a well-trained professional bunch. It may have helped that the Manager's office was in ear shot of the front desk.

The hotel is clean and the rooms are too. The beds are comfortable with nice linens. I love the big sunflower shower head. I wish the shower control had a C and H on it. The rooms are quiet.

The breakfast items were well-stocked. They have hot and cold items.

The parking lot was well-lit. It's a safe part of town so I never felt like I should look over my shoulder at night.

Previous reviewers are right - the elevators need a steroid shot. They are slowww!
