“Siesta South is great for families!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

Just returned from a fabulous week at Siesta Sands. The unit (410) was updated with classy furnishings, granite counters and top quality cabinets in kitchen, walk-in shower tiled with stone, and a VERY comfortable king-size bed. My teenager used the pull-out sofa, and had her own TV in the living room, and we had another flat-screen in the bedroom. We had tons of hot water for showers, everything one could need in the kitchen, easy access to elevator and laundry, a covered parking spot, and a balcony that viewed the ocean....not to mention a bird-eye view of the HUGE mansion being completed next door.
Siesta Sands is the last commercial condo bldg. at the south end....the rest of the area S of Point of Rocks is all residential until you get to the Turtle Beach area. There are 3 buildings, with rental prices set according to size of unit and distance to beach. We stayed in bldg. C, which is RIGHT ON THE BEACH front---how could you go wrong? There were two pools, top-end grills, an outdoor TIKI fun room w/TV, and a pingpong table. There was even a library of free book to read on the beach---borrow one, bring one!
Our unit also provided more books, 2 sand chairs, a VCR/DVD player for both flat-screens, and two lovely dining areas---one inside and one on the balcony. Nothing like sitting on the balcony in the am with your coffee/tea, browsing the internet news with the free WiFi, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Gulf.
Our family has been traveling to this South end of Crescent Beach-Siesta for over 15 years. It is quieter that the Village area, and the beach is not as crowded. I love to be near the Point of Rocks, since the shell collecting and marine life there is new every day. If your prefer clear surf and shallow water for swimming and wading, this is the place to be. Many familes use this area of the beach, as it is suited for toddler, babies, tenns, and grandparents. We saw many extended family groups sharing vacation time here @ the S end of Crescent Beach-Siesta Key.
Siesta Sands units are typically rented weekly, but you can call and check to see if they have anything open for just a few days. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were quick to respond to any little items we needed, and Brian at the front desk does a great job of communicating all you need to know before or during your stay.
* just a note---the Elevator had a current inspection and worked great---not a problem as mentioned in an old review from one cranky reviewer. If you expect the Ritz-Carlton 5 star service, this isn't your style rental. But if you want a spacious unit with all the comforts of home for you vacation, call Siesta Sands!
Siesta Key offers plenty of fabulous dining opportunities, shopping, sight-seeing, and access to the bay and the Gulf. This is our perfect vacation spot for years to come!

“Ahhhhh.....Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

We just left Siesta Sands Rm 208 after a 3 day girls getaway. The property was beautifully maintained(this coming from 3 girls in property management), the condo was perfect, clean, quiet and near everything. Brian and staff in the office were amazing, and helpful to every thing a guest might need, including finding a market for fresh lobsters for dinner. We loved our stay so much I am already planning another getaway in August with my husband and son. I have traveled to many places and stay in 5 star hotels, but to me The Siesta Sands Beach Resort hands down is the best value for a great getaway.

“Great time at Siesta Sands!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2010

Please note there are two "Siesta Sands" hotels in Sarasota. There is another place called "Siesta Sands On The Beach" and this review is for "Siesta Sands Beach Resort"

We spent 5 nights at Siesta Sands and had a great 2BR/2BA condo (#409). The unit was "nice." Nothing fancy or lavish, but we weren't looking for that anyway. We just wanted enough space to spread out with our 18 mo old son. The pictures and virtual tour online were very true-to-life, so we knew the exact layout. We had a crib and high chair delivered to the hotel so our son had his own separate bedroom. The unit was stocked with nice plates and cheaper utensils and pots/pans, but everything was functional enough for us to cook several meals. The selling point is this property is definitely the beach. Literally right on the beach -- it was great. We spent most our time on the beach, so the location was perfect for us. The front desk is only open 9-5 Mon-Sat, and is pretty low maintenance. We didn't need them for too much.

As for the surrounding area, we've been to Siesta Key before so we knew we'd had to drive up to the Village for dinner every night, but it's only a 7-10 minute drive. There are some smaller restaurants closer to the hotel -- less than one mile -- definitely walkable if one wants to. But, really, I enjoyed the serenity and laid back attitude of the property. There were other families with small children staying there as well, so we felt quite at home.

Thanks for the good memories Siesta Sands -- we'll be back!

“Siesta Sands Condo”

We have just returned from a week at the Siesta Sands. The condo( #511) is a great beach retreat. The condo has a beautiful view of the ocean from the master bedroom, living room and patio.
The condo itself is spacious and updated. The kitchen and bathrooms are very comfortable and recently updated. The two bedroom condo had four televisions including a large flat screen t.v. The master bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed with a large private bath. The second bedroom had a full size bed. You could hear the ocean at night from the living room and the master bedroom. It was great to sit on the balcony in the mornings and have breakfast looking at the ocean. The sunsets were beautiful from the balcony as well. The beach was a short walk from the condo. It was great to walk out right on the beach. The condo was really beautiful. The only suggestion I would make is to update the living room furniture and rugs to match the rest of the condo. Great vacation for family!

“Great value, We've stayed here 7 times!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2008

We have stayed here 7 times since 1999, with the latest stay in 2006. Every year I look for a better value, and every year I book the Siesta Sands.

One of the major reasons we stay is for the 3 bedroom condos. This allows us to bring the grandparents, or friends and share the cost.

Basically, it's like having an apartment by the beach. We buy groceries, and treat the place like it's own. If you are looking for the spa/hotel experience, then this is not the place.

In other words, you clean the condo during your stay, and clean the condo before you leave. We've had little problems during half the stays, but they are quickly corrected (Broken Dishwasher, Broken blinds, Not cleaned properly, etc.).

The location is wonderful for us. It's all the way at the end of Cresent Beach. This is a very quite section of the beach near Point of Rocks.
