Just returned from a fabulous week at Siesta Sands. The unit (410) was updated with classy furnishings, granite counters and top quality cabinets in kitchen, walk-in shower tiled with stone, and a VERY comfortable king-size bed. My teenager used the pull-out sofa, and had her own TV in the living room, and we had another flat-screen in the bedroom. We had tons of hot water for showers, everything one could need in the kitchen, easy access to elevator and laundry, a covered parking spot, and a balcony that viewed the ocean....not to mention a bird-eye view of the HUGE mansion being completed next door.
Siesta Sands is the last commercial condo bldg. at the south end....the rest of the area S of Point of Rocks is all residential until you get to the Turtle Beach area. There are 3 buildings, with rental prices set according to size of unit and distance to beach. We stayed in bldg. C, which is RIGHT ON THE BEACH front---how could you go wrong? There were two pools, top-end grills, an outdoor TIKI fun room w/TV, and a pingpong table. There was even a library of free book to read on the beach---borrow one, bring one!
Our unit also provided more books, 2 sand chairs, a VCR/DVD player for both flat-screens, and two lovely dining areas---one inside and one on the balcony. Nothing like sitting on the balcony in the am with your coffee/tea, browsing the internet news with the free WiFi, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Gulf.
Our family has been traveling to this South end of Crescent Beach-Siesta for over 15 years. It is quieter that the Village area, and the beach is not as crowded. I love to be near the Point of Rocks, since the shell collecting and marine life there is new every day. If your prefer clear surf and shallow water for swimming and wading, this is the place to be. Many familes use this area of the beach, as it is suited for toddler, babies, tenns, and grandparents. We saw many extended family groups sharing vacation time here @ the S end of Crescent Beach-Siesta Key.
Siesta Sands units are typically rented weekly, but you can call and check to see if they have anything open for just a few days. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were quick to respond to any little items we needed, and Brian at the front desk does a great job of communicating all you need to know before or during your stay.
* just a note---the Elevator had a current inspection and worked great---not a problem as mentioned in an old review from one cranky reviewer. If you expect the Ritz-Carlton 5 star service, this isn't your style rental. But if you want a spacious unit with all the comforts of home for you vacation, call Siesta Sands!
Siesta Key offers plenty of fabulous dining opportunities, shopping, sight-seeing, and access to the bay and the Gulf. This is our perfect vacation spot for years to come!
