“Great, small condo resort”

This was the 6th time I have stayed at the Signal Inn, the 5th with my family. The location cannot be beat - in the middle of the island, right along the beach. We've stayed in 4 of the larger units. All are nicely appointed - clean, good beds, laundry in the units. The kitchens are fantastic - allowing us to eat 'at home' most of the week, and then head out to Amy's or the Sanibel Grille now and then. Units are individually owned, but managed by Chuck and LeAnne. We've had very few issues over the last 6 years, but any time there was a small problem, it was quickly addressed.
The pool area is centrally located - there may be kid noise now and then, but there is no alcohol allowed at the poolside, so nothing negative along those lines, and they close it at a reasonable hour (9PM?)
Beach is accessed by way of two well-made and maintained boardwalks that cut across the mangrove barrier. The sand bars change every year, but there have been times that we can walk out for 100 yards at low tide. We've seen dolphins, lots of shore birds, sea stars and other sea creatures, especially after storms. Shelling is amazing - I keeps saying I won't bring any home this time, and then... I've collected probably 20 different types of shells, and hundreds of them, including 2 9 inch long horse conchs.
If you want high-rise, luxury resorts, Sanibel and the Signal Inn are not your place. If you want Florida the way it SHOULD be - beautiful and preserved, and quietly fun, this is your place.
You might also want to hit a Fort Myers Miracle game some evening - my family has a great time there every year.

“Great Beach Location / The unit was a little rough, but can bring your pet”

We stayed in a beach cottage with a great location at end of boardwalk leading to the beach. Were there for 5 days and brought our daughters and the dog. I understand that the units which allow pets may be a little rougher in wear and tear than the others, but the owners hadn't updated this one in a while(the units are indvidually owned but managed by the hotel). The furniture and carpet needed a makeover. We made the best of it , however, and had a good time. It's hard not to on that island and the others in this area ! They provided a nice bottle of wine as part of the rental and we were on the beach or shopping and eating out a large part of the time anyway. The people in the office were friendly and helpful so that certainly helped in keeping us from getting too upset with the condition of the place. These are older beach cottages and aren't going to be like units in a new resort.

“Perfect answer for de-stressing!”

In 1983 we were looking for a nice layed back beach where we could enjoy with our family and our dog and we stumbled upon Signal Inn. Our experience was next to perfect. Within 3 weeks we were back just my husband and myself, with Samantha, our dog for a great weekend And that is how we started our Signal Inn tradition...We took our first born at 3 months and she is now 22. Both my children will give up any vacation to spend time at Signal Inn. Over the years we have stayed at every unit and all of them are great. They have everything you need and more! The staff is like family and they make sure everything is just right. The location is also excelent. you are close to the East end of the Island, as well as having access to Gulf Drive and Perriwinkle, which are the main roads, it is truly centrally located, I have celebrated my birthday there for the last 26 years and I look forward to celebrating my next 26 years at Signal Inn!

“Wonderful Vacation”

My husband and I and our friends returned this week from a wonderful vacation at Signal Inn. Our townhouse was WONDERFUL. It was beautifully decorated with all the luxuries you have at home. The grounds are landscaped and LeeAnn was most helpful with her recommendations for restaurants. It's nice to have property managers on site but since everything was perfect we didn't need their help with anything. I would highly recommend Signal Inn. We did check out Sanibel and Captiva and I didn't see anywhere that looked better than where we stayed. We will definately be back.

“Can't wait to come back!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2009

We just returned from a wonderful 6 night stay at the Signal Inn. We all loved it including our small dog. They are very dog friendly! We stayed in unit #9 which is a 2 bedroom with a screened in porch and sundeck. They even gave us a bottle of wine when we checked in! The beach was beautiful! The water was warm and calm. We enjoyed looking for shells every day and especially loved the sunrise. We didn't realize until we got there that we were on the wrong side to see the sunset, but the sunrise made up for it. The kids loved the pool and provided pool floats and noodles. My teenage daughter loved the hot tub. We loved the relaxing and laid back feeling, the full kitchen, the shell washing area, the shower right down the stairs from our unit for washing the sand off from the beach before entering the room, the underneath parking and the free high speed internet too! My kids both start school on Tuesday and this was just what we needed to "chill" before all the craziness begins again! We are already planning our trip back next Summer (if not sooner) and all agree that we want to come back to the Signal Inn. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone, but especially anyone traveling with a dog!
