“Fantabulous!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We have stayed at the Signal Inn once or twice a year every year since 1992. Needless to say... we love it. The managers, Chuck & LeeAnn are superior. The condos have everything you need. Just bring your clothes and suntan lotion! The Signal Inn is quiet and peaceful. We are counting the days until our next visit.

Room Tip: It's just the 2 of us and we usually stay in Unit #12

This is our first stay at the Signal Inn... Everything was great from the get-go... The staff is super friendly and helpful! The unit we rented (3/1) had EVERYTHING one could possibly need for a home-away-from-home vacation: a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, extra linens, beach towels, chairs and umbrellas, bbq area, a lovely, quiet, clean beach, then you should stay at the Signal Inn.

“Great, small condo resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

This was the 6th time I have stayed at the Signal Inn, the 5th with my family. The location cannot be beat - in the middle of the island, right along the beach. We've stayed in 4 of the larger units. All are nicely appointed - clean, good beds, laundry in the units. The kitchens are fantastic - allowing us to eat 'at home' most of the week, and then head out to Amy's or the Sanibel Grille now and then. Units are individually owned, but managed by Chuck and LeAnne. We've had very few issues over the last 6 years, but any time there was a small problem, it was quickly addressed.
The pool area is centrally located - there may be kid noise now and then, but there is no alcohol allowed at the poolside, so nothing negative along those lines, and they close it at a reasonable hour (9PM?)
Beach is accessed by way of two well-made and maintained boardwalks that cut across the mangrove barrier. The sand bars change every year, but there have been times that we can walk out for 100 yards at low tide. We've seen dolphins, lots of shore birds, sea stars and other sea creatures, especially after storms. Shelling is amazing - I keeps saying I won't bring any home this time, and then... I've collected probably 20 different types of shells, and hundreds of them, including 2 9 inch long horse conchs.
If you want high-rise, luxury resorts, Sanibel and the Signal Inn are not your place. If you want Florida the way it SHOULD be - beautiful and preserved, and quietly fun, this is your place.
You might also want to hit a Fort Myers Miracle game some evening - my family has a great time there every year.

“Great Beach Location / The unit was a little rough, but can bring your pet”

We stayed in a beach cottage with a great location at end of boardwalk leading to the beach. Were there for 5 days and brought our daughters and the dog. I understand that the units which allow pets may be a little rougher in wear and tear than the others, but the owners hadn't updated this one in a while(the units are indvidually owned but managed by the hotel). The furniture and carpet needed a makeover. We made the best of it , however, and had a good time. It's hard not to on that island and the others in this area ! They provided a nice bottle of wine as part of the rental and we were on the beach or shopping and eating out a large part of the time anyway. The people in the office were friendly and helpful so that certainly helped in keeping us from getting too upset with the condition of the place. These are older beach cottages and aren't going to be like units in a new resort.
