“Loved our stay here”

I stayed here with my kid for 9 days in 2009, when it was a Holiday Inn. Took me a while to get round to writing a review, but hey...

We used the hotel as a base to explore the area, and attend the Rays games. It is in an excellent position right at the St Petersburg end of the iconic Sunshine Skyway bridge. The hotel itself was very friendly and welcoming, the staff were fantastic during our whole stay there and were always on hand to answer any queries we had, book taxis, etc. The 2 bar area (1 inside the main reception, another built on stilts on the beach) were great to hang out in for an hour after we returned from the games, and we met many other travellers. The small beach area was ideal and quiet, allowing me to sit in the stilted bar enjoying a cold beer while pitching balls to my son down on the beach for him to catch in his new mitt.

The pool area was very adequate, and the grounds of the hotel are lovely to stroll around and look at the varied wildlife that inhabits this area. It is very handily placed for the whole surrounding area. St Petes beach is a 10 minute drive, the Sunshine Skyway is perfect for exploring further South (we visited Sarasota and Port Charlotte to see the Rays minor league teams) and of course, the I275 is perfect for taking you north in to St Petersburg itself, Tampa and the beaches on the Gulf coast further north.

My only complaint was about the room itself, which was very sparsely decorated and wasn't cleaned as often as I would have liked. Although this was offset by the balcony giving views on to the bar and bay area, which was always lovely to wake up to in the morning.

I would definitely look in to staying here again when we come back over the pond to see the Rays, although I would maybe try to look for something a little more central to St Petersburg and Tropicana Field first. This would be a great fall-back option tho, I would have no qualms whatsoever about coming back!

“Nice room in a quiet area”

We got a real good deal on a room here. There are two pools and a jacuzzi in addition to a small white sand beach. The restaurant here is very good and the staff is very happy and helpful. The workout room is one of the best for a hotel of this caliber. There are many things to do, but we just stayed one night and didn't take advantage of any of them.

Room Tip: Try to get a second floor view because the view is best from above. However, there is no elevator.

Good deals are sure hard to pass up. Thank you for choosing us for your vacation.
There are so many things to do at the hotel and in the St. Petersburg area.
Maybe next time you are here, you will have more time to enjoy the property and city.
When you book again, call ahead of time. We do have an elevator. It is located right behind the front desk in the main lobby. We would be delighted to place you on the 2nd floor overlooking Tampa Bay.

“Nice hotel but outdated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Spent one night here last October. Hotel location is a bit remote if you want to visit the downtown centre of St Petersburg.
Rooms are outdated and could do with some renovation. There was a card in our room advising to lock the doors at night (standard advise in all hotels), however the deadbolt in our room could not be locked because it was broken.
On the other side, the restaurant in the hotel was very nice and the staff (reception and waitress) was very helpful and friendly!
There was also a very nice beachbar! Had a great time when we went there for a drink.

“One of my favorite places.”

I've reviewed this place a while ago but after seeing the "Aweful" comment I thought I should again. I come here often on business but it is also one of the few beachfront properties I would want to bring my grand children to. The private beach and secure grounds make it a great place for families. There is a nice, very casual elevated outdoor bar which overlooks the bay. the indoor dining room and lounge views the marina. There is no boat launch but the is a public launch right around the point. Rooms are smaller by today's standards but well maintained and clean. No flat screen TV but who comes here to watch TV. I enjoy the room service for breakfast on my private balcony, which is always very prompt. If your a fisherman, having a marina right at your hotel is a plus. Guest docks are usually available but call ahead to be sure. I've never had a problem getting one. You can also fish the seawall in some areas. The grounds have nice mature and well kept landscaping. There's two nice swimming pools and a hot tub. All well kept. I must also mention the staff who I've always found friendly and helpful. In all, its a nice, reasonably priced full service beachfront property. Comfy beds too.
