There are hidden fees included in spa charges. Friend and I booked a repeat visit for massages. Unfortunately we didn't put the date in our calendar and we missed it. NOTE they do not call out to confirm appts which is a standard practice for other facilities. Although they don't call out to remind you of an appointment they do call to tell you it was missed and you are being charged. At that point they began to chastise me for not calling them, this of course while they are telling me they are going to charge me for the service anyway.
We agreed to pay for the missed service; however, because we were repeat customers we should have been entitled to a 20% discount; we wanted to pay what we thought we would have paid if we arrived. they said no discount if you don't show you pay full price
Also they tack on additional ~15% service fee which website and brochures at the hotel say represents access to hotel and other spa services. since we weren't there we didn't feel we should have to pay for services we weren't taking advantage of According to clerk at the spa, that fee is not a fee for using their hotel/spa extras but is a way to tip your specialist who is providing the service - no where is that stated. However, at the end of any service the individual who is providing the massage or whatever hands you an envelope for a tip - so either they are getting tipped twice or the spa is keeping some of the tip for themselves, either way it's misleading. They would not take this fee off either, even though as no shows we were not there taking advantage of anything.
Again during the conversation of discussing what fees I felt I should be responsible for and what I should not be, again I was chastised for not cancelling and questioning their charges.
