“Good Experience ... except for the Owners Table”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We were a group of 15+ plus people to have dinner, and see the Van Dells performance. The dinner/ entertainment pricing package was aggressive, but well worth it for a special occasion. The atmosphere, and service was wonderful, and food above average. It would have been a night to remember, however, it was our misfortune to be seated directly behind the owners table. While we were served prior to the show, the owners table was served during the Van Dell’s performance. Not only did their servers cause a distraction, but the owner’s guest TALKED CONTINUALLY throughout the show. We felt this behavior showed total disregard for the patrons as well as the performers.

NOTE: The viewing area is great all over. The owners may want to consider locating themselves in a less conspicuous area, unless the idea is to be the center of attention. I would go back to the restaurant, but be sure to stay away from the owners table.

“Tuesday night prime rib & seafood buffet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

My friend and I went to Red Rose for the prime rib & seafood buffet (Tuesday nights). I had a gift certificate from restaurant.com which is what brought us there from Riverview and we were not disappointed. Dinner was still pricey (~$60) even with $25 off but everything was fresh and the service was great. We ate pretty quick and took dessert to go which I really appreciated the server allowing us to do (most buffets are strict about to go plates). We're both mid-20s and this place was definitely not for a party night or anything but we are foodies and wanted to give the famous Red Rose a try. I felt like I was dining aboard the titanic lol (dark, romantic setting with "stars" lighting). All in all a fun experience, worth the drive.

Room Tip: I didnt stay, just ate at the restaurant.

“GREAT food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

WE stopped in for dinner on 12/29. The food was good. Everything fresh and but dinner could have been warmer. A warning - if you want a quiet dinner avoid singles nite out. We suffered through a rap music dance-along. The music prevented any table conversation. A couple of groups moved to another room!

“A DEVINE THANKSGIVING DINNER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This was my first time dining in the ballroom. It was elegant and refined without being stuffy. Tables were set as a FIVE STAR restaurant. The service was impeccable. The food was much more than your standard Thanksgiving fare. The salads were just as yummy as the hot entrees. Just a shame to see people dining in such a gorgeous placed dressed like they are going to the beach.

Room Tip: Large volume of people but provided complimentary valet parking

“Time Traveler”

My wife and I have stayed here two times now.......first and last............we happened to go to Plant City at a time when the only rooms to be found were at the Red Rose ...our luck. We were rather impressed with the lobby/dining/lounge area as we heard the owners had sunk a good deal of money into remodeling and updating the motel.............that is where it ended though.

As we stepped into our 89/night room we stepped back into the 60's. Some of the crud, mold, carpeting and tile were still left from those days. We realized right off there was an iron but no ironing board for the iron burn prints in the carpet. I had to dance around the toilet to open and close the bathroom door while trying not to get wedged into the tiny bath tub. If you are over six foot there is no way you are going to be able to wash your hair unless you bring a chair into the bath tub. A young lady across the parking lot was taking pictures of the "biggest cockroaches I have ever seen". As other reviewers have mentioned the A/C does sound much like a jet taking off but that blends nicely with the rumblings and whistling of the trains that pass by much too often during the night. I've gotten more sleep while staying in hospitals.

Other than that, we had a real nice visit and hope to return to Plant City again next year. Sorry, but we had to scratch the Red Rose Inn off our top 10 list.

Room Tip: Find another motel
