We originally planned to stay in Tallahassee, but events in town made rooms pricey. Can't say much for the town of Perry, but it was a good stopover. The hotel is older but clean. The room was decent size with 1 bed and a microwave & fridge. The carpeting and linens were clean. The bathroom even had a heat lamp.I have not seen one since I was a kid ( and didn't need it in Florida in August), but it was a nice bit of nostalgia. Our requested 1st floor room had sliding doors out to the parking lot, which was very convenient. The interior hallway had new carpet and a spot to slide room key, however it was not in use that we could see. Hallway doors were unlocked even when we walked the dog after 11pm. We felt safe as room door was sturdy, and sliding door had a locking bar. For more than 1 night, especially with kids, I would get the rooms in the back wing, where the patio doors open to the pool area. The pool itself was ugly, with peeling paint and missing tiles. But, it was clean and quite pleasant. I would have been very disappointed it it had been drained to be painted. There were several chairs and chaises about the pool. There were also several lights that were not in use. The area was bright enough with regular hotel lights. We saw a broken washer, and a broken AC unit outside, so it appears the hotel is being renovated. The only other thing we noticed was that our room had a chewed chair rung and woodwork from a previous dog. We pointed this out so our dog would not be blamed. We're grateful for hotels that accept pets for a reasonable $10 fee. A few irresponsible pet owners could ruin it for all. There were restaurants within walking distance, and a grocery store nearby. I would stay here again if my travels took me this way. A great value for $65 (including taxes and dog fee).
