“Don't Stay Here Even If It Is Free. Sleep In Your Car”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2007

The worst place I have ever stayed. Booked online. The carpet was wet. The room smelled of mold. The mattress was horrible. The entire experience was terrible. We stayed out all day and spent as little time as possible in room. Don't stay here no matter what your budget. Sleep in your car first.

Side point.
We did walk to the ponderosa next door and was stopped by time share employee. We have no interest in time share but was given free breakfast and lunch. Plus $150 in cash. We listened said no and took the money.

“Unpleasant Stay-Misleading Pictures”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2006

I recently stayed at the Econo Lodge in Orlando, Florida and I must admit that I was very disappointed. To start with when I booked the room, the gentleman, (Jesse) that I spoke with had told me that this was a nice hotel, according to the pictures that are posted on the internet, it didn't look too bad. The pictures were very deceiving to say the least. I must have driven by the hotel at least six times before I called the 800# to see where it was. It didn't look like the picture that I had seen on the internet. I didn't even receive the travel itinery to let me know anything. At least I had the confirmation number. I did give Jesse my email address, but found out later that it wasn't even recorded anywhere.
I checked out of the room promptly at 6:30a.m. I didn't sleep well that night, it was very noisy and I didn't feel safe. Not to mention that the room smelled very musty, the carpeting on th floors were very stained, the bathroom, specifically the shower was very dirty. And to top it off, there was a dead roach in the lobby. I talked with a very nice young man the day that I checked out and told him had happened, he was very sympathetic and seemed like he really was sorry for what had happened. He gave me the General Managers' name (Scott Renken), and his business card that was copied onto typing paper and had been cut out, apparently he was out of regular business cards. To say the least, I thought that was very unprofessional. It looked very cheap. Scott did call and left me a message to call the 800# if I had concerns and to get a refund. He never made any attempt to apologize for the inconveniece either. I am a professional and travel quite often for my job, but I would not want to stay at the Econo Lodge again.
Thank You for your time and allowing me to comment on this sight.

“Get what you pay for”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2006

We stayed the night of December 27th at this hotel. We had reserved the room on-line, having some knowledge of Econo Lodge accommodations and with the understanding that a continental breakfast would be available the next morning. Breakfast was particularly important because we flew home on the 28th and did not have the time to dine in a restaurant. Upon check-in we confirmed that breakfast would be available beginning at 6 AM.

We were assigned room 159, and advised that the door was a bit tricky to enter. Indeed, the door did not seem to work very well. The room was clean and the mattresses were in fine shape, but there was no alarm clock-radio in the room and no drinking cups of any kind. Furthermore, the phone line was full of static, the light in the bathroom worked only inconsistently, the toilet seat moved only with great effort, the bath faucet stuck out of the wall, and a large bug was present in the bathroom. We expected a simple room, but found these conditions sub par.

Lacking an alarm clock, we called the front desk and requested a 6:15 AM wake-up call. We awoke on our own at 6:20. Still having not received a call, we walked to the lobby for breakfast at 6:55. The main door was locked and the attendant told us breakfast was served next door at the Clarion. The attendant at the Clarion directed us to their restaurant which was serving an expensive buffet breakfast. Upset at not getting the promised continental breakfast, we returned to our room preparing to check out. At 7:05 we received our wake-up call - 50 minutes late!

This hotel was clearly not up to the usual standards of an Econo Lodge. As I obtained the receipt, I picked up a hotel brochure which stated that a clock-radio is provided in every room and that a continental breakfast is included. Our children were not feeling well that morning and we would have appreciated a quick breakfast. Fortunately, we were able to rush to the airport and catch a bite ($12 for the four of us) there before our plane left. If we ever get to Orlando again, we will definitely not be staying at this motel.

“Never again!”

After checking in, we went to our assigned room and realized that it had not been cleaned since the previous guest checked out. The beds were still undone. After we reported this to the receptionist, he apologized, assigned us another room and reset the keys. When we arrived at the door of our newly assigned room we noticed the "do not disturb" sign. By looking through the curtains we saw that the TV was on and the room already occupied. After another trip down to the front desk, we finally got a room that had been cleaned and was vacant. The hotel exterior is in very bad shape and clearly lacks maintenance. Some doors look like they have been rammed, a couple of them miss their locks and doorknobs. The room was spacious though and reasonably clean, the TV, the hair dryer and the A/C were working properly. Because we were afraid that the front desk would assign our room to another guest, we slept with the "do not disturb sign" on the door and a chair inside to block it (the deadbolt was missing). The next morning, I went to the lobby to have my breakfast but was informed that the Econolodge did not provide it anymore. We stayed there three nights. Our room was never done and we kept the same blankets and the same towels. "Not enough staff during the holidays" was the explanation from a pitiful receptionist who seemed to have had his share of insults. Also, because every night when we came back from our excursions, we had to have the keys reset, I suspect that our room has been mistakenly assigned to other people when we were out. Although we liked to joke about it, (someone else is wearing your clothes ...) this is a very unpleaseant feeling. Of course the "do not disturb sign" and the chair remained during our whole stay. I was charged $ 44.99 per night which is cheap considering that I stayed there during the holiday period. This hotel however is not worth more. Beside the housekeeping issue, the major deterrent was the keys and room assignment problems. The front desk staff was OK but clearly too young and powerless to run this establishment.
