To be fair, the rooms are nice. This is what sold us on using the Westgate Palace. We were told the rooms were very nice by the sales lady on the phone and read this in the reviews. Location is also great if you are going to Universal.
The biggest turn off and the reason that we will not go back was the timeshare presentation. We were offered a reduction in the price of the stay if we went through a 90 minute timeshare presentation.
We were kept waiting for 30 minutes. We were finally brought upstairs, ate hotdogs, and chatted nicely with our presenter which took another 20 minutes. She told us that it would be a short presentation for which we thanked her. It started nice enough. She showed us pictures, talked about the positives of owning a timeshare, discussed economics, etc., etc. We told her that we were not planning on deciding on a timeshare that morning and she continued. After about an hour of this, I told her that we were not interested. "Hadn't you said that you were going to take this number of vacations and spend this amount of money over your lifetime? And wouldn't owning this time share save you so much money?" she argued. "Don't you want something your children can inherit?" she berated us.
Again I told her that we weren't interested at this point, it had been almost 2 and 1/2 hours since we came for the presentation, and it was time to wrap it up. She said she still needed to take us on ther tour for the presentation to be complete. As we walked around for 30 minutes she continued her hardcore sales pitch. Finally, at about three hours, we said it was time to quit.
In an annoyed manner she asked us if we could not understand her because of her foreign accent. We told her we could understand her fine and that she spoke English very well. When we sat down to finish, she told us, in so many words, that we had been discourteous and aggresive, and she would not sell us a timeshare even if we asked.
She then threatened that we had not finished the presentation and therefore would probably not get our hotel discount.
I went with her to talk to her manager about what she had said. A few minutes later a soft spoken woman sat down with us, had us sign some papers, and tried to sell us on buying another stay at Westgate for the future which we declined.
We left feeling a little ill as though we had been strapped to a roller coaster named manipulation and had gone off the tracks.
Therefore, I cannot recommend Westgate Palace and will advise others to stay away from Westgate in general.
