“Close to everything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We took our Kids 6 and 8 year old to Disney Universal and Wet and Wild. It was close to everything. We did do the time share. I would have paid the extra to skip that process. Next time will pay full price. Room was nice and very clean. It was very quiet on our floor 17th floor. We stayed 9 days and enjoyed every min of it. We Will go back again without the time share presentation. It was 3 hours long. It did have a place where the kids could go and play while we listen to the presentation.

“Horrible experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

We decided to take a tour of this property. A palace it is not. It's in the middle of the tourist area which is cluttered. We were told to.arrive at 7:30 am for a 90 minute tour. Before we saw the property the sale had started. We were talked to about the offers for quite some time. To give you an idea of how long the sales person talked the tour took 15 minutes and we were there 3 hours not the 90 minutes we were told it would take. The property was 3 stars at best. The carpet was worn the walls were peeling and the salesperson even told us for the rooms they use minimal carpet so they don't have to replace it. The two bedroom suite was extremely small. The pool was smaller than a personal pool at someone's home. The great view we were told about included an uncared for lake across the street. Our parting gift was a $50 & $25 gift card. We went to dinner that night and to our embarrassment the $50 card was declined. After calling the card service number we found out it had a zero balance but was used nearly a month before we received it that day. Two trips later to westgate and standing there over an hour for some solution it was concluded that an employee had used the card to rent a Marriott room for personal use. We were not given anything for our gas or the amount of vacation spent there. We were given a replacement card after an hour of speaking to the person who issues the cards. I would never recommend this hotel for a nights stay or for the time share program.

“Warning:Run Away...especially for timeshare presentations”

To be fair, the rooms are nice. This is what sold us on using the Westgate Palace. We were told the rooms were very nice by the sales lady on the phone and read this in the reviews. Location is also great if you are going to Universal.

The biggest turn off and the reason that we will not go back was the timeshare presentation. We were offered a reduction in the price of the stay if we went through a 90 minute timeshare presentation.

We were kept waiting for 30 minutes. We were finally brought upstairs, ate hotdogs, and chatted nicely with our presenter which took another 20 minutes. She told us that it would be a short presentation for which we thanked her. It started nice enough. She showed us pictures, talked about the positives of owning a timeshare, discussed economics, etc., etc. We told her that we were not planning on deciding on a timeshare that morning and she continued. After about an hour of this, I told her that we were not interested. "Hadn't you said that you were going to take this number of vacations and spend this amount of money over your lifetime? And wouldn't owning this time share save you so much money?" she argued. "Don't you want something your children can inherit?" she berated us.
Again I told her that we weren't interested at this point, it had been almost 2 and 1/2 hours since we came for the presentation, and it was time to wrap it up. She said she still needed to take us on ther tour for the presentation to be complete. As we walked around for 30 minutes she continued her hardcore sales pitch. Finally, at about three hours, we said it was time to quit.
In an annoyed manner she asked us if we could not understand her because of her foreign accent. We told her we could understand her fine and that she spoke English very well. When we sat down to finish, she told us, in so many words, that we had been discourteous and aggresive, and she would not sell us a timeshare even if we asked.
She then threatened that we had not finished the presentation and therefore would probably not get our hotel discount.
I went with her to talk to her manager about what she had said. A few minutes later a soft spoken woman sat down with us, had us sign some papers, and tried to sell us on buying another stay at Westgate for the future which we declined.
We left feeling a little ill as though we had been strapped to a roller coaster named manipulation and had gone off the tracks.
Therefore, I cannot recommend Westgate Palace and will advise others to stay away from Westgate in general.

“WOW! Very nice, and highly recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

We are a family of 4 with 2 kids. One is 11 and the other is 5. We stayed here August 14 - August 18. When we arrived, we were very pleased. There is a little guard shack outside the parking area that has a guard in it at night. The outside of hotel was very nice. Check in was very easy and everyone was very nice. Once we got to our room, we loved it! It was like a small apartment. The kitchen is nice sized, with all the tools needed, they even put dishwashing packets, paper towels, and a small thing of hand soap in the kitchen. I was not real happy with the dryer. It was a stackable washer/dryer and the dryer took forever! to dry. There was a bar with bar chairs all around. The bar chairs were not very comfortable. The couch was comfortable. The kids room had 2 twin beds, a TV and their own bathroom. Our room had a king size bed, TV and the bathroom had a jetted tub along with a shower. The beds were very comfortable. I liked that we could set our own temperature in the room, it was not set. It was very quiet. Very seldom did we hear anyone else. We needed to have our trash taken out, so we called the office and they came right up. Oh I wanted to add they do keep pool towels in the rooms also, so you don't need your own. Overall the room was very cozy and nice. The parking was free, but we had to pay for the internet access. Internet for 3 days was 24.00. We were okay with it. We stayed in Alabama on the way, and there we had to pay for parking and had free internet. We did go down to the arcade area and the pool area, both very nice. The pool area the big pool, and a kiddie pool for the kids. There is a bar with excellent drinks. The Resort is located near all kind of restaurants, and stores. There is a Kmart, and Wal-Mart nearby. Did not take us long to get to the theme parks either. We were very pleased with our stay and I would recommend this to anyone.
