“It was ok, but that was all”

Rooms were clean, sheets crisp, employees mostly polite. Kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils and washer/dryer was wonderful to have. Air was cold and all other devices worked well (except for two out of three DVD players). It is a timeshare hotel, but we opted to avoid the tour. To do this successfully, try not to talk to anyone in the lobby area for the bulk of your stay. Lake front very nice, especially in the morning and at dusk. Lake contains some nice size fish and does have alligators (really, one should assume any body of water in Florida has at least one gator). Short drive to Universal and you can walk to Wet n Wild and International Drive.

That was the good, here is why I would not stay here again. This is a personal hang up, but none of the rooms have a balcony and the windows do not open, so the rooms have a claustrophobic feeling to them. The pool area is not peaceful, but that isn't because of the guests. The hotel chooses to blast music via outdoor speakers starting at 7:00 am. Coffee with a side of Meatloaf, anyone? My family had to shout in order to speak to one another. The living room area is small, family of four could not all sit comfortably. They put out a continental breakfast, but only for the people taking the time share tour. Saw a salesman tell a little boy getting cereal "No, no, not for you." If they want it that way, then they shouldn't set it up in the general lobby area, should they? No welcome basket, so make sure you have coffee with you before you fall asleep, cause you can't have the coffee in the lobby. Deli food overpriced and sucks anyway, don't eat from there, two of our party became ill. Bar is overpriced, buy your own drinks and liquor. Maid came to clean, but didn't change the sheets or leave replacement towels. Room key never worked correctly. One member of our family was outside the room for 20 minutes trying to get in, maid walked by them giggling. Make sure you have at least four keys to rotate them out because one will work eventually Elevators constantly broken or not functioning correctly, repair man was there five days out of our eight day stay. Charming graffiti and vandalism started appearing towards the end of the stay, but it was handled promptly by hotel staff.

“Superb Hotel”

We stayed in the Westgate Palace for 2 weeks in June 2010. The rooms were exactly as advertised. The bedrooms were comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. We used the kitchen facilities for breakfast and the washer/dryer was great. The in-room safe was also very convenient. Our suite was cleaned everyday by housekeeping. It was a bit disppointing not to have free internet anywhere in the hotel - it's available in many of the restaurants nearby. Check-in was very fast with no problems at all. Our flights home were in the evening so the hotel gave us an extra hour in our rooms before we had to check out (12 noon) and they also had the facility of storing our bags until evening. The staff at reception were not always friendly & helpful and were sometimes quite rude when we had any queries during our stay. The hotel lobby & pool area were sometimes crammed with people taking the time-share tour & sales pitch. We were asked once to take the tour which we declined and in fairness were never asked again. Dont bother collecting your "welcome pack" as this is where you are introduced to the time-share sales team. The pack is only a collection of brochures & info on the attractions & restaurants which are freely available in the lobby anyway. We stayed in Tower B which had fantastic views of Universal, Wet & Wild and ovelooked a lake which had jet-skiing & water skiing. The pool also had a grill bar and there is also a deli just off the lobby.
The hotel is situated in a very convenient area. We had no car so we relied on public transport all the time. The I-ride green line stop G6 was beside the hotel on Universal Boulevard and the red line stops 12 & 13 were a 5 minute walk up Carrier Drive onto International Drive. We also used the Free shuttle Fun Spot bus to get us to Universal Studios.
There are many restaurants within easy walking distance - TGI Fridays & Chillis are on Carrier Drive and are both highly recommended. The dinner show "Pirates Adventure" is directly opposite the hotel and seemed very popular although we didn't go. Just up from the "pirates adventure" is a brilliant bowling alley which our teenagers loved and was good value.
We spent a lot of time SHOPPING - the Premium & Prime outlet centres, the Festival Bay Mall, the Florida Mall & Point Orlando were visited on many occasions.
This was our 6th trip to Florida and the Westgate Palace is definitely the best hotel we have stayed in and would go back again.

“Great Place To Stay”

This was an excellent choice . We stayed for two weeks in June 2010 and enjoyed every minute.Could not fault rooms or location. Our only problem was why do they not offer cheaper Wifi for laptop pc`s. They charge $50 a week which is a total rip off. Others offer it free or you can get it at Macdonalds just down Int Drive for free. Even a small charge would have been acceptable. All in all a great place to stay though if computers are not your thing.

“An all-around great experience”

I was pleasantly surprised at how helpful and courteous the staff was during our stay. We were able to travel to all the Disney theme parks in 20 minutes or less. The facilities are well kept and the pool area accommodated all of our needs. We were even able to get a couple workouts in during our stay!

“This Westgate is better than I expected from previous Reviews”

We chose this resort because we were going to Universal Studio's and this Westgate is the closest to Universal. We do actually own a timeshare week at Westgate Vacation Villa's but we needed a place for just a few days so I bought this off of Westgate's website. We checked in right @ 4:00pm and just had a little wait at the counter. The staff was friendly and explained everything pretty well. We were asked if we had a preference in our room. I said I wanted to be able to see Universal's fireworks so she said she would put us in Building #1 on the 17th floor because the view from there was wonderful. We found a close parking spot so we grabbed our luggage and we made our way to our room. We had a 2 bedroom unit -non smoking. From what I understood Building #1 is the oldest building but it did not look old. Our room had everything you would expect from a condo... dishes, towels, soap, pots, pans, etc. Though, no laundry soap, even though we had a washer/dryer. That was Ok though, we were just there for a few days! The King size bedroom was nice. We just had a regular bathtub but that was OK. Also a separate shower. The other bedroom had 2 twin beds that also had really nice sheets and blankets. Another bathroom. In the kitchen we found everything we would need had we been cooking in our unit.
The resort has a couple of pools, our room overlooked the lake which we enjoyed looking at. The lake had a couple of alligators and it was funny watching other people try to catch them and feed them. There was fishing available, paddle boats, etc Only downside is that we learned that Universal does not have nightly fireworks! We were told that they did by several people so our "room with a wonderful view" was not good for the fireworks show! We enjoyed the room even so.... I would recommend this place to anyone. It is a timeshare and the sales people were taking people of tours all day long so it really slowed down the elevators. Westgate Palace was clean, friendly and in a great location to everything... Disney, Universal, Restaurants, Wet and Wild, etc. We enjoyed our stay even though we were not in the room much. Hopefully this will help someone else in their decision. I read reviews on here all of the time and really was scared by some of the reviews I read about this place. We are used to some nice condos and stay in Vegas at the Marriott Grand all of the time and Westgate Palace, though not as fancy; was just as clean and friendly.
