“Great stay in Orlando”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed here with my partner for four nights during October 2011. It was booked as part of a package deal with Universal Studios and we were very happy with our stay.
Service was great, staff were very friendly and always willing to help. They offer free transfers to and from Universal Studios, which is great however they only do it once each way per day. If you miss it or the times don't suit you have to make your own way. A cab ride should come in under $15 though so not a big deal.
We arrived early and were very pleased that we were able to check in straight away. Breakfast was included in our stay. It was a buffet style breakfast, nothing special but very convenient.
The rooms were nice. Decent size, clean, quiet and comfortable.
Location was good, just off International Drive and not too far from the theme parks. There were plenty of restaurants nearby for a varying range of budgets.
Overall I can highly recommend the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Orlando.
Tip: When travelling there for the first time take note of the actual address. It is called International Drive but not actually located on International Drive. May save a cabbie some confusion...

“OK hotel, good value”

We booked this hotel through Universal Vacations, it has actually been sold by Marriott and is called Quality Inn now. You could see that they were doing some renovations and clean up.
We stayed there for 3 nights, and felt the hotel was alright. The rooms were big, we had 2 beds but they weren't that big and you would sink in the middle.
Service was OK too, we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel, but staff was very nice and helpful.
The breakfast was great, they even had a waffle machine which we loved!
As part of a package this was a great deal, at a very good price. But if booked separately would look for another options as well.

“A Gem of a Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

This hotel takes my number one slot of the 6 we stayed in during our trip (4 in the US and 2 in the UK).

Immaculately clean and comfortable, free wifi, fabulous bathroom, great staff, the most friendly we encountered by far. Pool, spa, gym, coin laundry room which was a great touch and helped make sure that for around $10 dollars in totla including powder, 2 wash loads and 2 drier loads that we went home without a heap of dirty washing.

Fab complimentary breakfast, tea and coffee and drinks on tap all day and night in the lobby, ice machines on most floors and vending machines too. Great choice of TV channels if you fancy a night in if you have little kids or have had a long day in the parks. It cost us $25 in the Amtrak shuttle from Orlando station and in a taxi on the way back it cost us $36 so if you are travelling by Amtrak take the guy's card when he drops you off and arrange for him to take you back.

Free shuttle to parks in the mornings leaves at 8.50am and takes about 20 mins as it picks up elsewhere on the way. Tickets for parks and attractions are available from Dave at the Best Western next door. He says he gives you best prices but we did find tickets cheaper on line, however he does give you the actual tickets so you can go right through when you arrive rather than waiting in will call queues or for assitance with a voucher.

Taxi back from Universal parks and City Walk costs around $5.

Taxi to Sea World cost us around $19

There are so many places to eat within sight of the hotel and great room service provided by a local grill restaraunt. There is a Walgreens on the same lot, a Burger King, Steak House/Bar, Chinese restaraunt and McDonalds across the street.

Felt very safe and welcome in this hotel and the staff here should be used to show other hotels and establishments how good customer service is done. They were outstanding.

I booked this last minute and got a great deal but would have happily paid more and will be back here in the summer for sure.

Room Tip: We had a double king on the 5th floor and it was fabulous, quiet, comfy and great views over to Univ...

“Online reservations and check-in are two different rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I made my reservation as I always to, online, when I book with Marriott. I am an elite points member and use Marriott almost everywhere I travel. Well, I booked my room which said it had a mini kitchen...there was no mention of a room with just a bed, no artwork, a mini fridge thrown in the corner and a smelly room. But that's what I was given when I checked in. I cannot believe, for someone staying 5 nights and paying for their stay that ANYONE would be given this hell hole of a room. NOT ONE PICTURE was on the wall. It reminded me of a bad horror movie room.

I was so tired from diving and not feeling well (there to meet other people that shared my same disease) that I almost cried. So I had to go to the front desk and the kid (maybe 20 years old) said that's the room I booked. I had to laugh. I got on my phone, pulled up my reservation, showed the description of the room to him and asked if he could get me the manager. He signed, rolled his eyes and then got the manager. The manager didn't argue one minute. He knew they were wrong.

I was then given the correct room, but it was the furthest from the elevator and I had mentioned in my reservation that due to being sick I needed something near the elevator. LOL, I guess they got me after all, huh?

Needless to say I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. It's just sad that people can't read a reservation nor do they care to exert customer service. My reservation was made 3 months in advance, too. So there was no last minute fitting me in. I arrived at 3pm and not once was I rude or hostile. I was too tired and defeated to be anything but listless.

The room I received was what I had reserved. It was not clean compared to the many other Marriott properties I have stayed in, but it wasn't horrible. Hopefully staff has changed and it's more pleasant now. There are over 100 hotels in that immediate area, so Marriott best shape up or they will lose more and more customers.

Room Tip: make sure you get the room you reserved. They do the bait and switch here...my friend also experien...
