This was such a pleasure to be here! The staff was super friendly, housekeeping was also very friendly and did a great job on the rooms. Renee in the breakfast room is so pleasant and shows she really loves people. I would stay here again without a second thought.

Recall those Great Days when Howard Johnson would accept Texaco Charge Cards when only American Express and Diner's Cards were as Credit Cards. No wallets full of Visa, Master, or Discover Cards in 1968 but you could charge your on a Texaco Gasoline Charge Card and great Ice Creme and Super Meals. This H. J.'s just off I-75 in Ocala was a refreshing experience @ long ago "Happy Days" Rooms all remodeled with New Heat and AC Controls, Super Internet, and fresh smelling rooms. Same Old Colors but were bright and the nearby interstate Traffic Noise was Non existent. Continental Buffet Breakfast was better than Days In, Super 8 because you could have waffles and the service was great. Value for a single was excellent. The Buffet and Restaurant needed updating and was some what Dark but still had a large Wall TV to catch up with the News before departure.
Will stay again on a return Trip.

The entrance to this property is sequested and we didn't know what we would find at the end of the long driveway.The property is old but well maintained. The front desk personnel was friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and appeared to be newly renovated .
But the most pleasant experience was Renee who was in charge of the dinding room.She was delightful ,attentive, and accomodating to EVERYONE who entered the dining area .She just made you feel she was there to be of service.She offered to make the waffles for you ,help carry your food to the table and inquire how you felt and wished you a good day and REALLY meant it. Thanks Renee! Oh yeah the continental breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety.
We found the hotel had a great location too, close to grocery stores ,drugstores, eateries and a shopping center.It was great we had a small frig and microwave.
We would stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone who needed a clean,safe,affordable and hospitable place to stay.

Stayed here as part of a stopover on the way further south. The check-in was very smooth and the clerk was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the room we were given had a problem with the lights and they immediately switched our room to one next door. The smoke detector in that room was chirping. We thought this wasn't going to be a good stay. Maintenance was right on the problems and was fixing the original room (circuit breaker had flipped) before we had even discovered the problem in our new room. He came over and took care of the smoke detector (needed a new backup battery). Everything was fine after that. It was unusually cold during our stay, but there is a very nice pool and a miniature golf course on the property. They also have a gym (which we didn't use). All these are unusual for a HJ. Breakfast was the standard fare - cold items with a waffle maker. The breakfast area is in a separate building from the rooms. The hotel uses that area as a restaurant at night. We went to get Pizza instead (at a place I would highly recommend - reviewed separately)
It's near the highway so you do get some road noise. Overall - the place was clean and great for the price. I used a coupon from the hotel magazine which got me a slightly better rate than I could get on-line.
