I stayed in this hotel for over a week last year and gave it a very good review at that time. Then it was clean and had an obvious manager-type 'patrolling' and had just finished installing new carpet.
This stay was less enjoyable in many respects:
- Not near as clean as a year ago. This time we had a centrally located room on the second floor (very convenient not to wait for the extremely slow elevator). Unfortunately taking the stairs allowed me to see the grime on each wooden and carpeted stair tread. Not just grime by also graced with various crapola like muddy bits, leaf bits, dirt, etc.
- More not clean: the floor and rug of the check-in area. I know that horse-people (like my daughter) often come in to a hotel with dirty muddy boots so I didn't think too much of the filthy 'welcome' rug and mat at the entry when we checked in. But when I checked out three days later they were even dirtier - and the floor was graced by a cigarette butt that had been smished on the floor the previous day.
If staff/management will not assure the entry into the hotel is clean, I will not trust them to provide a clean room either.
In my case the room was overall OK - although the bathroom definitely needed closer attention to cleaning details and drapes were wrinkled and messy looking. Bedding just average and pillows past their prime.
I'll look at the La Quinta next door next time.
This hotel does not have enough parking space to accommodate the guest. Both nights we stayed we arrived to the hotel after 10p and there were no more spaces so we had to park at the gas station that was right next door. The hotel workers were satisfactory nothing exceptional.
Thought we get a half way quiet hotel. Lots of young families with lots of kids. We wanted to use the hot tub/pool. Full of kids. Came back an hour later, still full of kids. There was another older couple that wanted to use it, they turned around too. Too much noise, no one cared.
Rooms were just ok. No modern flat screen TV. The old tube TV. Location - just off the freeway. You hear traffic all night long. You enter/exit through a gas station.
We asked for handicap accommodations. the young front lady did not care. Rooms were already assigned. At check-out, the older lady was friendly, but appearance - the jacket was sizes too big. Little things do matter.
Free breakfast was nice. Friendly staff there. Free cookies in the lobby.
We stayed here on New Year's Eve as a stopover on the way to Universal Orlando from Tennessee. I chose this hotel because it has an indoor pool, which is very difficult to find in this part of Florida! For the price we paid, I think we got a fair value. $89 plus tax got us access to an indoor pool and hot tub, plus a decent free breakfast. Unfortunately, the pool was much colder than I would have liked, and the hot tub was only lukewarm. However that didn't stop our kids from having a good time. I wasn't too crazy about the cleanliness or lack thereof in our room. The bathroom vent didn't work very well so the bathroom was dripping with moisture after a shower, and it took a loooong time to dry out. My daughter used a towel to dry the bathroom floor, and the towel had black streaks of dirt on it afterward. On a positive note, the breakfast was pretty good (not as good as Holiday Inn Express), and the lady attending the breakfast table was very nice and helpful - she offered to make our "self-service" waffles for us. Overall, our needs were met, but not sure I would stay there again.
