We had a really good experience at Suntan Terrace, mainly because of the beautiful gulf front balcony and the stunning location, which can't be beat. I love Casey Key (this is our fourth visit). It's beautiful and undeveloped enough that even at Christmas time, it wasn't crowded. We had room 8, which was a one bedroom, gulf front apartment with a private balcony. It was pretty clean, although the grout in the shower, which was otherwise large and very nice, could have used a little work. The kitchen was reasonably well supplied and the furnishings were comfortable. Some people might find the bed a little springy, but I found it comfortable and slept like a baby. I don't think it's a place for tightly wound, type-A people. Like I said, it's funky old Florida, not at all polished, but comfortable. You didn't feel horrified when you inevitably tracked sand into the room. There were several dogs while we were there, with some barking but not a lot, and kind of a convivial mature adult party vibe. I don't think I would have been as happy if we had had the room below us. There's not really a private patio -- it's generally a public gathering area. But I'd take room 8 again in a heartbeat. If you want a slicker, slightly more upscale experience, I'd highly recommend Russell's Retreat, a two-story fourplex about a hundred yards up the beach. We've stayed there three times, and it's great.

We just fell in love with it's historic Old Florida Charm. The Tiki Bar and Hut is a great gathering place to make new friends while staying there. Its a self severe Tiki Hut in the center courtyard. But most of all we held our wedding there on the beach, with a recption around the Tiki bar and patio. The other guests staying there enjoyed the band that we had playing there. It's friendly and just down home.

This is our second vacation here and we love this Old Florida style motel It has a laid back atmosphere, friendly staff (especially Debbie & Rio), and is pet friendly, The
units could use a little updating , but it is clean and the beds were very comfortable. We
loved watching all the snook under the newly installed fish lights. We found shark
teeth at the beach and caught a few fish from the dock. It is just a short walk to
some good restaurants on the Inter coastal waterway. We can't wait to go back!

After reading the reviews on tripadvisor I was comfortable booking with the rest of our party, We were part of serveral people going to a destination wedding. What a mistake. The room we got was a dump and filthy dirty. I walked across the floor barefoot and my feet were black. The furnishings were old and although there was a kitchen the utensils and dinnerware were few and far between. We ended up eating all meals out as I couldnt bring myself to cook in that kitchen. Then the kicker was as part of the wedding party group we were supposed to get a discount, well that never happened and they socked us for over 300 dollars for 2 nights. What a rip off. They should be ashamed of themselves.
The Tiki bar is falling apart with holes in the decking where you could break your ankle. The bar stools have cushions that have to be at least 15 years old. No umbrellas at the pool or beach deck to get a little shade if you need to. No beach towels. No housekeeping on a daily basis, No front desk clerk after 5pm ( not that they would be any help). The list goes on and on. There is a beautiful beach onsite but bring your own beach chairs and umbrellas. Also a great restaraunt nearby, Pop's Sunset Grill. Went there twice and food was great! Lastly I wanted to say that there were some renovated rooms but that didnt make them clean and our wedding party had several horror stories to tell about the cleanliness of their units. So just cuz it looks new doesnt mean its clean.......... food for thought.
