“What a Beach!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

Stayed at this hidden gem with my sister and brother-in -law. Tucked away among homes of the rich and famous, the old Florida style motel is a hold out to simplier times. The rooms are small and "old style" but well maintained and sufficient. The screened in porches are a nice touch. The true treasure of this motel is the location - you are right on a pristine and unspoiled stretch of beach.....l literally steps away. There are several "locals" that come to visit - a blue heron and several white egrets. The beach is a shell collectors paradise. The motel is in a wonderful location for local restaurants, Venice, and Sarasota. If you want a place to simply kick back and chill out - this is the spot for you. The management of the motel treats you more like family than guests, and its nice to see that still exists!

“Perfect location with pristine beaches! A hidden gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

Our family has been going to Gulf Surf for years. It is a very small Mom and Pop motel with no frills. But it sits directly on million dollar beach front property. The location is out of this world! The beach has lots of shells, sharks teeth and so much wildlife that it is a protected Key. We had turtles nesting when we were there. We saw manatees mere feet from us and one bumped into my son! Every day we were in the water we saw dolphins and had egrets, ibis and all sorts of birds inches away from us. If you stay at Gulf Surf there is an egret that comes to the door looking for handouts. It is a quite, private place with the most beautiful beach. Perfect for families.

“Tranquility”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2008

Tranquil, that's exactly what it was, from the moment we arrived until we left. A weekend in a beach house on Casey Key island Nokomis. We found this place while searching for a hotel in Sarasoto.we rented for the weekend apartment number 5 , which is fully equipped, located at the back of the office with a deck containing table and chairs, sun loungers and our own Barbeque,we had more privacy than the others. Some of the apartments are beach facing.
You can either buy food from the large supermarket or eat out at the many restaurants (only a few minutes drive). There is one restaurant on the Island, we ate dinner there on the first night, although the food was good but a little expensive to be served with plastic plates and cups.
This place is not for young people wanting to party all night, it is for people who want to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.Situated on a residential street. Apart from a beach there is nothing else.Sarasota town centre is twenty minutes drive, it has a beautiful marina park. You can take a cruise around the Gulf of Mexico.
