My partner and I stayed here with several other family members and friends for a long weekend to celebrate the wedding of our daughter. The staff was extremely friendly and professional before and during our stay. It was our first visit to Mount Dora and we opted for chain hotel consistencies instead of experimenting with the bed & breakfasts in town at three to four times the rate.
The hotel's location is highway at best with a short 1-2 mile drive into downtown. You must have a car to stay here as there is nothing within walking distance.
The hotel is extremely clean and well-kept. Housekeeper Ethel was a true delight as were Sara and Robert at the front desk. The breakfast host was without personality as were the eggs, potatoes, and mystery meats. Overall the breakfast was standard fair for a chain hotel so we ventured out to Cody's downtown for old fashioned home style cooking.
We stayed in room 201 and the only frustration was how long it took to get hot water running through the shower. We quickly learned to turn the shower on and let it run for a good 10 minutes before use. Perhaps all the hot water was being diverted to the outdoor whirlpool which was scalding hot. Reported it to the maintenance person who promptly went out to check it.
Next trip we will probably try one of the b & bs downtown but only because we typically don't stay in chain hotels; and because we now know the area. If you need an affordable, off the highway hotel in Mount Dora then this is the hotel for you.
