I thought by choosing a Marriott property, I was safe. The hotel was in a decent location, but it needs to be updated. The carpet was worn. I asked for extra towels and did not have them. They only provided one sheet for the pullout sofa bed and they were ripped.

It was with trepidation that my husband and I decided to keep our reservation after reading the January 3 review. We had only booked for one night although our trip was for several days. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find that everything we were concerned about was not of any concern. The staff was exceptional, the hallway was clean, the room was spic and span and the grounds were well maintained. The Miami Lakes area was very pleasant. The only glitch was our coffee maker was tempermental and they very quickly came to our aid on that issue. We were so pleased with the hotel that we extended our stay for the entire time in the area. Our room was cleaned daily; we were supplied fresh towels in the bath and kitchenette area, the supply of complimentary coffee and tea in our room was replenished daily and although the breakfast bar was limited it was welcomed as it saved us the expense of an additional meal eaten away from the hotel. We would definitely book with this property again.

I thought by choosing a hotel in the Marriot chain that we would be safe, however I was wrong. The hotel check-in area is nice, but the rest of the hotel is gross. From the minute I stepped into the hallway I knew we were in trouble. Stained carpet, peeling paint, and a horrible smell. Rooms were even worse. The quality of the hotel was that of a Motel 6, if not less. Queen bed smelled of cologne and the mattress felt as though it was 20 years old. Sofa sleeper did not have sheets on it and was disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE!

I needed a decent place for two nights and my budget was $100 per night. TownePlace appeared to be a good option and I was pleased with my stay. It is well located near the highway, about 20 minutes from Miami International Airport. There is a giant map in the lobby so getting to WalMart and nearby restaurants should be easy. My check-in was quick and I was given a suite on the second floor. I found the manual doors to be a headache when travelling with luggage, this is something they should fix. There is an elevator.

The room was small for a suite and would be crowded with 4 people. I was travelling alone so it was fine. The TV was old style but lots of channels so it was functional. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. Some fixings for coffee was provided.

Noting special about the bath and I noticed there was no safe in the room. Once again, easy to fix. Housekeeping was adequate and the staff were pleasant. When I checked out, I was able to get a yoghurt and orange juice from the helpful front desk person.

Although I have rated this property very good, it is really better than average but needs work to be very good. I would stay here again when in the Miami area.
