When I booked this hotel it was all about the view. I stayed for 1 night and was upgraded to the Deluxe Veranda room. While I appreciated the upgrade at the time I probably should have kept my standard city view room. First, the veranda is not very private, only a plant separates you from your neighbors. Second, the veranda has a lounge chair which is nice to relax on but the way the hotel is designed the veranda extends outward one floor lower than the lowest floor of hotel guest rooms. Therefore, everyone on the balconies above (25-30 floors of them) look down on you and after I glanced up twice finding people staring down on me I wondered why I paid over 300 dollars to feel like I was on display. Thirdly, when I called and asked for a thirty minute late checkout, I was told no because the "room type I was in was limited and sold out". I understand checkout time is checkout time but come on, I spent less than 24 hours in the hotel and hundreds of dollars for a five star experience, and I wound up rushing myself to checkout after a phone call ran 20 minutes long and again thinking, for the money, this was not worth it. Now if you want a view of the downtown Miami from your balcony this is the best you'll get. The view is limited since the hotel is built kind of u shaped so depending on where your room is the view is still stunning but not grand. My advice is for these prices to stay in south beach, and if you want a great view of Miami take a 4 mile walk (one-way) across the Venetian Causeway. It's free and just as private!!! In addition there is huge opening between the bedroom and bathroom which was weird (and I was alone). Even though the toilet is behind a separate door, I don’t need to see into the sink and shower area and really wonder: who would?
