This hotel was perfect for the escape we were looking for! So close to everything, but secluded from the hustle and bustle at the same time. This is not a fancy place, but a lovely place, and suited us just fine. Great price for a place ON THE BEACH. The employees are charming and helpful, and just very nice. The cute little Sand Bar grill has a wonderful chef and warm and inviting employees. We definitely want, and will, go back!

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. We traveled all the way from Oregon and were exhausted upon arrival and were quite pleased to find the air conditioner on already. The room was very clean and the bed quite comfortable, but the best thing was the VIEW! Right on the beach, which was kept surprisingly clean, and with lounge chairs and hammocks provided. The staff was great! Very friendly and helpful, it felt like they cared and we enjoyed meeting them! It may be an older building, and older furniture, but it's kept up nicely! For the price, you won't find a better deal guaranteed! We would MOST DEFINITELY stay there again!!!!!!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this place was.

Pros:
-Newly refurbished oceanfront suites(except bathrooms to be done next year). Bathroom was adequate though, with quality bath products. Separate bedroom, living room, and kitchen with dining area. Kitchen has full frig, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. No cook top, which to me is a good thing on vacation!
-Comfortable King bed-soft, just the way I like it.
-New pool opened 2 weeks ago. Nicely landscaped with tropical plantings and palm trees. No morning sun though-shaded by the building.
-free self parking. So nice not having to valet park.
- Direct Oceanfront-no road to cross.
-free umbrellas and chairs at the beach. Hammocks too.
-Internet $5/day in the rooms. Free in Lobby and pool area.
-General manager Christine was very nice.

Cons:
-Internet didn't work in my room, so I had to go outside or in the lobby to use my laptop.
-On site restaurant too expensive in my opinion for a 3* hotel. Prices more in line with a 4-5* resort. Never saw too many people dining there, and saw many look at the breakfast menu and leave. I think they would get more business if the prices were lower.
-I'm confused now as to whether they have a full bar, or just beer and wine. We had drink coupons, and when we went to use them, were told they only have a beer and wine license. Later I noticed on their menu that many tropical drinks are listed, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Tips:
-At this location you would be better off having a car, although the bus stops very close by and will take you to the main beach area, and to Lauderdale-By-the -Sea.
We like this location with a car as it is a very short drive to the many restaurants we like, and to Las Olas and the main beach area.It would be possible however to rely on the bus and cabs though.
-Rooms on the 5th and 6th floor are more desirable I think, for the views. I would avoid rooms on the 1st floor(no privacy on your patio), but some people might like the quick access to the beach from these rooms.

My husband and I booked this hotel directly from their web site, but there was no mention of their pool being under construction.... I was quite upset when I arrived since they charged us standard rate with the empty pool w/ construction noise going on until 8pm... I should have booked from other sites since some of them will give you a warning in advance if something is under construction during your stay.
My basic advice is outlined as below:
1) When you book the room, make sure you avoid rooms on the ground level or on the 2nd floor. Rooms on the ground floor will not have a privacy since people will walk in front of your ocean front window to get to the restaurant/bar or/and to the ocean. Balcony/windows of the rooms on the 2nd floor above the restaurant is too close to their outdoor seating, and their guests will have a very good view of your balcony and the living room.
You will be very happy as long as you stay in the rooms above the 3rd floor for the value.
2) Their suite kitchenette does not have a stove... So do not expect that you can save money by cooking...
3) Their mattress is super soft and springy... I recommend people w/ back ache sleeping on the floor.... We could not sleep well because of this.
4) If you don't know the area well, make sure you rent a car no matter what the hotel front boy tells you when you call... There is no store or restaurant within walking distance (meaning less than 1 mile).

Other than that, they have very spactious clean rooms w/ small but nice balconies right in front of the relatively less crowded beach. After learning my lesson, I will definately go back w/ smarter choice.
