“quaint cottages”

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Beachstreet Cottages for a week in October of 2007. My family has a timeshare there so we were there on the "points"system. We were on the top floor at the very back of the cottage "village" and that was probably a blessing as anything else would have been very close to the pool and there were many families with kids playing at the pool most of the time. It should be noted that the pool is very small and located very close to the cottages, and the cottages are positioned very close to eachother. 2nd floor is definitely preferable to a 1st floor unit- more privacy and less noise. The only real noise we heard was some construction going on behind the unit on a couple of the mornings, but otherwise, we had no noise complaints. The beach access is amazingly close- it really is like a private beach. Kenny D's is a restaurant located at the parking lot cottage enterance, and there's Captain Daves across the street on the beach so there are at least 2 good places to eat RIGHT outside your door- and the view from Captain Dave's at sunset is gorgeous. We also recommend the view from The Crab Shack down the street, for viewing the sunset.
The Cottages were clean and anything we needed was available to us (either already in the room, or a phone call away). My family has been coming to Destin for decades and it still has that wholesome family feel, but the cottages were charming enough, and the palmtree lined balcony private enough to feel like a little romantic getaway for my boyfriend and me. I would call the cottages quaint and clean and we will be going back in the fall of 2008!

“Just OK!”

Very quaint quiet resort. Showing its age. I would not want to stay on the bottom part of a unit. The noise would make for a terrible trip. Needs some updating. Pool area is really close. You have no privacy at all. This place is certainly not for everyone. Just okay. Is all I can say. Not sure I would want to go back. Very close to the beach though. Easy access.

“Best of both worlds.”

It wasn't our first choice, but after our stay it will be on the top of our list from now on. The cottages are great, the staff where very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in making our stay first class. We really enjoyed the activities that where planned, and that quiet get away feeling that we got from sitting by our patio doors visiting with other guest.

  • Disliked — Having to leave and go back home.

“Beautiful”

The place is beautiful. The cottages are close together but no one was too loud or intruding. The bushes, flowers and trees were bloomed out when we were there. It is very well maintained and employees are friendly. Other's have said the beach was like a private beach and they are right. Hardly no one on the beach and pool was mostly empty when we were there also. My only complaint is bunk beds were in the hall.

“great location”

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend with our son when he was only a few months old. We thought it was quite nice. From the outside, the cottages reminded me of Key West. They were small, but clean and comfotable. The bathroom was big. The beach is right across the street/over the boardwalk. Since the cottages are in a mostly residential area, the beach was not crowded at all. In the mornings we'd pretty much have it to ourselves. The pool is small, and got crowded on the weekend. But it was clean and had a nice patio area around it. It just felt weird sharing such a little pool with strangers.
We didn't try the "onsite" diner, preferring to cook our own meals. Another thing I liked is that there's a nice strip mall with a Publix grocery store within a few miles - very convienient.
We will probably go back this October but this time we'll stay in a second floor unit (more privacy).
