The Hi Seas scores in several ways: The location is smack-dab on the Clearwater Beach main drag, our room was a good size, well equipped and maintained, and the service was reasonably friendly. However, it's hard to believe that in this day and time there are still facilities that *do not* offer dedicated non-smoking rooms. The Hi Seas is one of those. The first room we looked at had a strong smoke smell, the second room was better but obviously had been previously smoked in and then cleaned. We stayed anyway because it was late. I'd come back to the Hi Seas again *only* once they catch up with the times and offer non-smoking rooms.

Motel is classic Florida, dated but charming, clean with courteous staff, short walk to beach, good pool area, pool water could be clearer. Prices quite a bit higher than chain motels, (AAA or AARP discount requires 3 days stay) Coped with water leaking from bathroom ceiling as guests upstairs flushed toilet. The problem was obviously chronic as the suspended ceiling braces were rusted. Above average vacation stress additive.

The staff at the Hi Seas (Valeria & Barb) could not have been any nicer. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The pool area is fantastic. This was the sixth year that my wife and I stayed at the Hi Seas.
