“Was dropped from the Holiday Inn chain”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

I agree with the other reviews. I have stayed here once a year for the last four years. Each year it gets a little more run down. A couple rooms had families living there full time. A lot of people setting around the pool drinking beer. Pool had so much chlorine in it my skin had a white film on it. I don't think most of the people at the pool were even staying at the hotel. There is a Best Western down the street that appears to be much newer and nice that I will try my next visit.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the pool area.

“Party central not family friendly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

Had a large gathering of boaters who literally took over the entire hotel. The front desk staff tried to settle the rowdy crowd but to no avail. We ended up calling the sheriff the first time and the front desk called them two more times before night was over. The group blocked the parking lot, stairwells, fire exit routes and held their drinking smoking party on the balcony all night. Kudos to Dixie county sheriff for evicting a large group of them. Most concerning part is the front desk said this group solicits party goers over the Internet on weekends. They boat and drink on the suawanee river then bring it back to the hotel parking lot. Only hotel near river with parking lot large enough for their speed boats and BBQ grills they set up. Sheriff controlled the situation but it could get very dangerous in a hurry. Will not be going back..

Room Tip: Don't take a room on the back of hotel

“Clean, quiet, closest chain motel to Cedar Key”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We stayed here one night in October. This was the closest, most inexpensive chain motel to Cedar Key (about 30 minutesa way). All the local motels were booked for the Seafood Festival. We needed to be in town early for the boat tour to Seahorse Key, so this met our needs. Everything was as expected. Check in was friendly and prompt, room was very clean (no smells), lots of hot water and nice fluffy towels. Breakfast was O K, nothinng special, but good enough for a light start. We did not use the pool/jacuzzi but our room looked down on it, and it was sparkling, neat looking and clean. If I had brought my bathing suit, I would have jumped in the jacuzzi for a soak. There was even a Burger King in the next block (that we could get to without going out on the highway) for a late night snack ! I am glad I stayed in this motel rather than the Best Western right up the road. This one was one block off the traffic noise of US 19 and quiet all night on a Friday night while the Best Western was right on the highway.

“This place get worse each year!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I stay at this location yearly and each time it goes down hill a little more. The rooms are very shabby with poor carpet and not a very clean feeling. this beds are worn and appear to be very well used. during my stay there was no hot water upon arrival for the hotel but this was taken care of later into the night. Staff was not to friendly and at one time received some not so friendly feed back. I fixed that problem!! I would find another location in Chiefland or Chrystal River down the road!
